A lot (read: all) of us talk about /fa/ clothing but what about some classy furniture? I'm in love with the classic Eames Louge and Ottoman, what about you? What /fa/ furniture would you like to own on day?

Herman Miller own the rights to the lounge chair design and are thus the only company licensed to produce and sell it.

Even Morris knew that those chairs were shit, and he lived in the middle of the fucking 19th century.

>> No.7043910

To be honest, I think you should look at the house you're trying to furnish.

If you happen to live in a hose that is 200 years old (which isn't totally uncommon to find in Europe for example), then you don't want to ruin it by putting modern shit in there.

For the same reason, if you live in a newly built futuristic villa, then of course you don't want to put antique furniture in there.

Bah, an antique house is the perfect place to renovate in a modern style.
Ruin it? Hah! The dynamics between the old walls and new interiors is absolutely wonderful, but those chairs are doomed to fall into the dark pages of history and have no place in even the oldest of castles. Out with the old, and in with the new I say.

Obviously you shouldn't go all out post-modernism, pop-art on an old house like that, I'm just saying get rid of the overly ornamented shit and introduce beautiful clean lines, wood and steel, stone floors etc.
Keeping the antique furniture make it look like your living in some kind of preserved environment. It's tacky and ugly, deal with it.

>> No.7044046

It's usually a matter of restoring such a house because some faggot already renovated it in the early 80's.

I guess it's a matter of taste.

My uncle built a new timber house that he keeps extending, and much of the interior still looks like 100 years ago, because he wants it that way.

He's also christian and is working as a silver smith, so i guess it's just his kind of way of doing things.
