I think you're always going to have this problem when you put experimental couture and runway oddities into the context of daily wear pieces. One is art, the other is clothes. Sure, you wear them both but whenever people try to mock high fashion with some variation on the joke in the OP pic I really want to tell them that they're missing the point entirely. The joke relies upon everyone's favorite logical misstep, equivocation. You might as well bitch about Rothko or Pollock not being realistic enough (pick up a MAD magazine from the late 60's if you ever find one at a yard sale).
