It's the same feeling I get when I look at a beautiful piece of graffiti art or watch a really good breakdancer, although it's in a slightly different hemisphere.
A sudden awareness of the natural playfulness and competence of the laws of nature and in turn the human animal. This leads to me suddenly remember that the potential for such things exist in me, too, but if I follow that thread for too long I get a bit overwhelmed.

I bought my DBSS with no idea who they were or why I wanted them. This was way before there were any US stockists and someone on Sufu was selling theirs. At that point, people only really knew about the sneakers, though some people had shared some of the apparel, too. I'm wearing them right now and I can say that they just make me feel good. They're outrageous, but being thrashed so heavily (one lace is getting perilously thin and should probably be replaced) makes them feel like a strangely sensible shoe. I've worn them on, like, four continents at this point and I plan on doing anything and everything to keep them going for as long as I can before I have to replace them.

hmm you have an interesting way of describing it...when i see a garment/shoe/object that i really find appealing, i get this sort of chill in my spine, often clothing that i think is beautiful will trigger some sort of memory of an experience for me, like a subconscious personal connection to it, like the person who created it shares a certain type of thinking/feeling/perspective that i do, a weird kind of object based empathy.

I definitely get the chill! I love that feeling but if I hold onto it for too long, I can get choked up pretty easily. It's a very powerful thing, and I think you're really onto something with the notion of triggering memory. I think that's what we try to use in order to speak to one another via the arts. I've always gone after that - a lot of people share certain emotional colors and memories and I find that if you simply work on making your execution technically perfect and emotionally honest, it's statistically impossible not to deeply move at least a few people. Granted I'm talking music, but I think the concept switches over to any artform, especially something as charged as fashion design.

This excitement has always been a part of music for me. It's only recently now that I've been looking beyond forums and boards for inspiration that I've begun to feel that level of excitement for clothing. That spark of recognition when you see a collection that visually articulates for you abstract emotions and feelings once difficult to assemble into verbal thoughts.

For me it begins as simply an outlet for charged mental vagueries but can become something much more powerful when you direct the medium back towards yourself, handle their work, bring it into your life. It becomes a complete communicative circuit of feeling. It's energizing.

my favorite pair of sneakers that i own are basis adidas that i bought just before leaving for europe
they're the only shoes i wore while in europe

i've worn them in 8 countries and dozens of cities, they're worn and have ridiculously bright orange laces, but i fucking love them. putting them on is like preparing myself for an adventure, even if it's just going to the grocery store.

when i look at shoes that i consider to be my grails (ann d dip dye high tops) or just shoes that i'll probably never own even though i love (raf chain derbys) i feel excited, like i'm connected to the designer. like what i'm seeing is the physical manifestation of a person's creativity, and it's beautiful. it's excellent.

fashion that makes me feel is the greatest type of fashion. even when i see a piece and think "i do not like that one bit" i'm at least happy i felt something about it.

After being on /fa/ for a few years now, I think the term fuccboi can apply to anyone who:

1. Mindlessly trend hops without vision or appreciation for clothing beyond a purely superficial level

2. Is dressed by the internet and develops preferences because something is perceived as well-liked, not because they have inherent appreciation for the product.

3. Someone who is unrealistic about their body proportions, has poor color co-ordination, or just tries too hard and fails

basically, a fuccboi is someone who everyone hates, yet deep down is afraid of being.

"h-hey user"

"the fuck your faggot ass doing here? trying to check and miring my fit or something?"

"n-no I just want the word"

"Prick, there's your word"

"r-right. I was wondering if you can hook me up with /fa/ clothes"

User took a quick breath, "you lost your retarded mind?"

"L-look, I can pay"

"How much you got?"

I walk slowly toward user, put out my chest forward and quietly said "Bout 50 quid"

I showed User the money and User quickly snatched it from me.

"Oh I'll do ya a special 50 quid deal"

User saw a shirt that was in the trash can, picked it up, and ripped it.

User hands him a new shirt, "there ya go"

"nah come on"

"what?"

"That can't seriously User"

"Fashionable clothes"

"Well it's just a shirt that I saw you just picked it up and ripped it apart."

"Are you saying that ain't /fa/? You callin me a liar? You disrespecting me?!"

"N-no, it's just that you did right in front of me User."

"I'm gonna give you a chance to apologize for that"

"y-yeah, right no sorry but"

"but what?"

"n-nothing"

"and?"

"t-thank you for the shirt"

I slowly turn around and walk away from User as I heard him said, "Post a fit fuccboi"

They're exactly what you'd expect. Great skinny fits, very rock n' roll inspired. It's not the BEST denim in the world, but I think the quality is there and they aren't nearly as overpriced as other brands of comparable quality.
