hey /fa/

so i broke my primary pair of glasses over the weekend and i figured i'd take the opportunity to get a new pair or two. i'm a bit limited in options because:

1. my work requires that glasses frames be brown or black material, or gold/silver wire. you can get away with other colors if it's overall a very conservative shade/design.

2. i have a big head, 7 3/4 hat size. primarily due to a wide head.

pic related, me without glasses on.

also i'll be back at work for another few hours, sorry if i don't respond

Go for something a tad more trendy.

Try Warby Parker's home try-on. Take lotssss of pics. Ask /fa/ and friends for advice on how they look.

If you have a hefty budget, consider Oliver Peoples or Japanese frames

yeah i looked at warby parkers. any frames in particular that might look good?

if it helps, i tried on a bunch of AOs, and the ones that fit well were 57mm. yeah, not kidding when i say i have a big/wide head.

ok, it's time for me to get back to work.

You can definitely pull off larger frames since your face is p.square. tell us when you pick 5 and take pics 4 da world. Ask facebook friends too.

Try both. You can do unlimited try-ons iirc

You can pull off either. Square frames usually play on the square features of the face and make people look more masculine but your face is plenty masculine enough to go with rounder frames too which are usually worst choices for guys with rounder faces as it usually complements softer and feminine features which is what men usually don't want. Those are just some general guidelines on why people usually recommend those frames but it's better to just try them on and judge for yourself since they are just guidelines in the end.

If you're into these kind of things, some more luxury brands you can look into are

Barton Perreira
SALT. Optics
Oliver Peoples
Moscot
Tom Ford

The Prada Prada PR 50PV

I wear contacts almost every day of the week, but I do wear glasses occasionally too OP, so I know how it is looking for/buying eyeglasses. I recently saw these in person and fell in love with them. I've visited the store and have tried them on once a week for the past month. My eye insurance allows me to get 20% off frames next month, so I've been waiting, and making sure I still like them. Love them. Best pair I've ever tried on. Feel great, look great in all fits too.

so i ordered a 5 pack from warby parker, will post pics when they arrive.

>>6922070

both my primary pair that i broke, and my backup pair, are semi-rimmed so i'd want a bit more variety.

work gave me a pair of glasses, but if i'm not flying i don't/won't wear them. they're clear RE aviators... doesn't exactly fit my personal style.

Gotcha,
>>6922070 here, My current pair is Burberry, and boy do they fucking fall off every two seconds. I get them molded/adjusted, and they just don't hold it. This is why I'm going for the semi rimmed with the actual nose kickstands. Best advice I can give is to go to multiple locations. I went to 4 lens crafters all within a 10 mile radius and they all had completely different selections. Also, once you find a pair or two you like, I'd sit on em for awhile, go back a few times and try them on again wearing different fits, maybe bring a friend for advice too. After all these fuckers are going to be on your face for a long time and you should (read 'going to', cause you aren't a pleb) spend a lot of money on them because once again... These fuckers are going to be on your face. Cheers anon! Keep us updated
