I'm not an expert, but it must have been a requirement by whatever entity supplied the garments. in general, no matter the museum, photos are okay aside from some special exhibits. that makes me think it was a stipulation demanded by the "supplier"

but yeah it's basically an exclusivity thing. dumb.

i wish i could have got pics of the exhibits in their entirety, i loved the way they sorted it out. There were projected videos of runway shows along with pieces of work from a specific designer (Miyake, Yamamoto, Watanabe, Kawakubo, and Takahashi are the ones i remember) into one room. It was a pretty good experience overall.
