True that. As a consumer I find Wang appealing for the reasons plenty of people find his work unappealing. All the silhouettes from this last collection are fairly masculine in the traditional sense. Broad shouldered, top heavy, tapered legs, the classic V taper.
It's extremely safe but that's why people like it.
Most of what he's criticized for is very deliberate. What people don't like about his work aren't necessarily mistakes. It's divergent values between the critic and the criticized.

Alexander is a fucking genius. He has good basics yea... but he also makes other garments that make sense to wear and are more utilitarian than other designers without sacrificing some of the designer elements or being too garrish or detracting from the person. his stuff usually frames the body well too and his methods of getting labor and promotion are all very smart.
