/fa/ I checked the sticky but i'm still none the wiser as to raw denim.

What's the best brand to start with? these are my first pair so I want to experiment a bit, don't want to fuck up my first pair of nice raws. Also I have very long legs. I'm 183cm so I'd need a 34/6 leg. I'd also like a skinny fit, but not sure what brands I should be looking at, can anyone help me or point me in the right direction?

basically it's
>long leg
>skinny fit

and any other info you can give me on shrinking, when to wash etc

>> No.6772443

I may be wrong but doesn't dior have crazy inseams and the skinniest jeans? Something like they used to all be 36 inseam or some shit. Try saint laurent as well.

i'll have a look but as I say these are my first pair so I don't want to fuck them up by doing the wrong thing accidentally, i'm guessing dior are expensive too? thanks for the suggestion though

Oh forgot you wanted raw denim as well. Most raw denim goes in loooooooong lengths. Why not get apc petit standard , size down 2 and do all that stuff that you do with raw denim? Some people even size down 3.

>> No.6772498

If you know what your doing, scroll all the way into the comment section, they have a detailed list of specific brands that sell raw denim thats worth mentioning. blue lettering in description are links

so I want to size down on raw denim? why is that? I always thought it shrunk after you washed it. So if i'm a 36 leg I want to size down to a 34?

don't size down that's retarded

the stretching is minimal and will shrink again after you wash/soak them anyway

there really is no reason to size down so much, it's just something skinnyfat people do to feel better about their waist size

>> No.6772534

>>6772523
No waist size you side down. Like if you're a 30 then size down to a 28. Length is however long your legs are , i.e 34.

well IDK I regularly wear my N&F jeans and if anything they have gotten smaller after soaking. The problem with listening to people on 4chan is that they are just telling you to do what they do, encouraging their own stupid habits.

Does sizing down 3 sizes thinking that they will stretch out and fit in a way you wanted them to sound reasonable???

>> No.6773521

Okay, I will help you out with raw denim basics and everything you need to know for your first pair.

So you want a skinny fit, so either APC or Naked and Famous skinny guy will work for you.

APC stretches more than N&F and also has more reports of crotch blowouts.

Personally, I recommend N&F.

Now, measure your waist and thighs. Once you get your measurements, look for N&F on something like Blue Owl, and there should be a measurement chart so you can compare actual measurements of the jeans to your own.

Remember, raw denim will stretch, so you should size down, especially since you want a skinny fit.

Once you find a pair you like and in a size you like. Order it.

When you first get it, try it on, it should fit snug, but not tight to where you can't button it up at all. If it is too big or too small, return it for a different size.

Okay, now you have one that fits. It will be sanforized, so you don't HAVE to soak it before hand, but I recommend it as there will still be a small amount of shrinkage. Fill your bath with hot water, turn our jeans inside out, place them in the bath. Let them soak for about 1-2 hours. Take them out, flip them outside out, and hang dry in the shade.

Once they are dry, wear them. They will be stuff and tight and rough, but they will break in soon and be like a second skin. Don't wash for as long as possible to achieve the sharpest fades. (recommended at least 6 months. But the longer the better.)

When you do decide to wash them finally, go out and get a bottle of Woolite Dark. This detergent will clean your jeans with the least amount of indigo loss. You can find it at like any grocery store. Fill up the bath again as if you were doing a soak. This time, put in a little bit of Woolite Dark and mix it around. let the Jeans soak for an hour or two. After, drain the tub, then run more fresh water to rinse off all the detergent. hang dry in the shade.

If they smell and you don't want to wash them yet. You can spray them with febreze, or you can put them in a bag and place them in the freezer over night.

That's pretty much everything you need to know.

If my jeans are tight around the thighs, but could a bit more taper around the legs, would it be ill-advised to just soak the legs below the kneed to shrink?

Pic related.

They're $50 Vans. Like I give a shit if they turn blue. I'll just buy another pair for regular wear if they get too bad.

Yeah, maybe I missed the memo where I'm supposed to care about the fact that they are selvedge. I bought them for the fit and so I can get nice raw fades for a change.

Honestly, sizing still confuses me. When people say to size down idk if they're talking about from your normal go to waist size or your actual measured waist because I almost always wear a 29" but my actual waist is a 32".

a lot of raw denim goes by vanity sizing, not actual sizing. That plus the stretch factor means one should size down, you fuckwit.
