Texas State University, San Marcos. Soon to be Baruch in NYC. Cannot wait (although, let's be serious, it's a CUNY school)

>how do people dress

Terribly. Worse than people dress in a Walmart in Alabama. H&M is considered "high fashion" here. Usually you'll see oversized oxfords with jcrew chorts and sandals. If not that, neon tank tops with cargo shorts.

>how /fa/ is your school (0-10)

>Where do you go?
Starting my first year at University Of Waterloo in September

>How do people dress?
Lots of asians at the school. They'll probably be the most /fa/, but even still it's just blue jeans and t-shirts. White people dress like average shitty white people - Volcom/Billabong tank tops, cargo shorts, yoga pants on the girls.

Lots of nerds too, they'll probably dress like /v/ or /g/ neckbeards.

For comparison, Carleton and OCAD University are pretty well-dressed schools.

[from October anyway]

from what I've seen from walking around the place on visits etc its like the non-autist-looking middle class white kids make an effort (which can occasionally go well, but often less so), the vast majority of the many asians dress uniformly badly, and the seriously academic looking (autistic) kids don't bear thinking about

so I'll say a preliminary 4/10. my hopes aren't high.

The guys usually wear Hollister, Abercrombie, American Eagle. The girls think they're fashionable but all wear yoga pants and Uggs. I've seen very few /fa/ people, but I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who browses here.

As someone who's lived in NYC all their life let me warn you that the city is only as /fa/ as you make it out to be.

It's not like you wander out into the street and everyone around you is dressed in Yohji, Owens, etc.

The same goes for colleges within the city. The worse your school is, the worse people will dress.

Don't expect that your life will be something straight out of Girls.

If your life doesn't revolve around a /fa/ profession, and the people around you aren't /fa/ who themselves have /fa/ hobbies and professions then NYC is going to be pretty average.

Even then people who are /fa/ are pretty tight knit within their close circle of friends, and you'll have a hard time breaking in unless they find you charismatic, as /fa/ as them, or have access to drugs or some sort of other connection.

Everyone /fa/ that I've met usually dabble in something artistic.

They're writers, musicians, artists, fashion designers, etc.

The problem is that there is also a lot of people in these fields who think they're /fa/ but act pretty pretentious despite having nothing to show for it.

Let's say you're a musician. If you practice at your music consistently, join a band, go to shows, perform shows, then you'll meet people with the same interest as you. You'll weed through them and eventually find people who are /fa/.

You don't have to be a musician but indulge yourself in something you find productive and go out of your way to meet people.

Enjoy the weirdest people you'll ever meet. Lots of hipsters, people dress well, you get looked down upon if you wear sweatpants outside the dorm, the athletes are looked down upon, no greek life so very few frat bros, girls constantly wear the mocs/uggs, yogas, and flannel combo which is only kind of ok since there are a lot of nice asses on campus. A lot of reasons. Primarily for being a druggy psychopath who never went to class. I had alot of fun, but it was a dark time. I did get to spend two days naked in bed with a beautiful rich girl who had her own horses stabled nearby. We spent the entire time sniffing heroin and holding each other. She cried a lot, but would never tell me why.
Another time, we threw a rager and got our kegs confiscated, so half of us distracted campus police while the other half of us broke into their patrol cars with crow bars & slim jims, stole our kegs back, stole two more kegs and an empty (dat deposit, bb). We hid them in the woods and continued partying.
Really was a shitty school, though. Met some real idiots. I didn't want to be there, my first choice wouldn't take me so I said fuck it, ran everything deep into the ground and started over as a freshman in a NY City college. I got my act together, pulled straight A's for two years in a row and re-applied to my first choice every chance I got. Eventually, they took me.

I had to cut contact with a friend once. It was a kind of sad thing, but I didn't see another option. He was on a downward spiral; some mix of his inability to succeed in anything he tried to get into after high school (even had a relative who pulled strings to get him into the military and he gave up on it because he couldn't handle the commitment) and his insecurity about his height and intelligence. He started to become more and more obsessed with height; I've never heard someone talk so much about how tall or short people were. He would get mad about "tall guys taking all the short girls". He started drinking all the time and lying to everyone and cheating anyone, even when he didn't have to. He hated himself and everyone else.

Eventually I realized that if I had to cut him out of my life before he became completely unstable. My only reason left for being his friend was feeling sorry for him.

But I also know what it feels like to be the friend 'left behind'. It's hard to hold on to friends who have regular access to ostensibly cooler friends. I've spent as much time as anyone else brooding and thinking about the verse from Brothers by The War on Drugs, "Looking out from somewhere, I've been thinking / I've been rolling past the seas / Wondering where my friends are going / And wondering why they didn't take me."

The worst part is that you know it's only your fault. I would never blame them for wanting better. Friendship can hurt like hell.

what if there was a girl at that party who loves designer stuff but dressed normally to meet guys, and neither of you two noticed each other

who knows how many opportunities to impress people you miss by choosing to blend in with the normals

I hope the sex was great when you banged converse girl but is that all you want out of life

Girls are just boring/basic yoga pants / uggs / northface or generic greek stuff. Lots of straight up hags with a middle school wardrobe.

I mostly dwell in Science area so its autism central. It's nice to be lazy about clothing and wear hoodies though.

I see 1 out of 100 nicely dressed people. By dressed, form fitting peacoats/parkas and shirts and jeans chinos.

Other than that, hallensteins rape everything. AS Colour basics are getting popular too.
