literally working with three colours in total with slight variations to each. the scheme is overwhelming and sortof looking like it was put together.

if I could suggest, go with the blue jacket, because it's a solid, whereas your bag is three colours alone and by wearing the brown/blue jacket with its own two colours creates discord
then throw in some black/dark indigo pants with a similar fit
I wouldn't usually recomend brown shoes with a black pant but it might play well with the backpacks accents in this case, similar to matching shoes with belt.

OR
wear the brown jacket with some denim (the texture will help a lot, everything you're wearing is textureless and it makes you look flat and boring) and a different pair of shoes entirely (not blue or green or brown)

Yeah I was hesitant when buying the backpack since it has 3 colours in it, but it was the only canvas bag I liked besides a solid blue one. I really like the colours brown, green and grey and i want those colours to come back in most of my fits, and I thought the blue might go well with blue denim jeans (even though I don't have one atm).

It had so much potential to be a great night. He house is due to be demolished so it was ok if we trashed it. noo you should avoid matching most of the time, a lot of the time. accessories or shoes and belts can match.
and going all green is a bad idea, possibly worse than matching. throwing black or grey in can always help where an item is matching and you can't figure out what else to put in.

no shoes colour doesn't really need to match the colour of a fit. so long as the colour doesn't contrast everything grossly, and the style of the shoe isn't completely different from the style of your clothes it's fine.

In regards to your first picture: You need to pull the backpack up more because of its style- you can't just let it hang down loose like a normal backpack.
