Who cares, there's crossover and a lot of people like all the stuff. Do you think there should be separate threads for each thing you listed?

>> No.6692214

>>6692198
Nah, I actually find the prolifieration of new fabric technologies into other styles quite interesting. It just seems disingenous (if not outright confusing) to include items that don't really fit into the style here because of the material they use. Then again I guess that means I'm arguing techwear is defined by its aesthetics instead of its fabrics which is probably a larger leap than I should be making

>> No.6692589

>>6692172
Policing definitions and threads is at best useless, to be honest. Techwear as a *style* is almost entirely a creation of the Internet, and very new, and even if you look at streetwear threads, you see people posting everything from Visvim to Rick inside. Most of us aren't here to systematize everything; we're here to look and think about clothes and fashion and to dress ourselves. Crosspollination is useful.

>>6689731
>>6690291

Are both from Acronym, which is as close to a pur sang techwear brand as there is. >>6690318 is from Aitor Throup, who's about as avant-garde as it gets, but making stuff that's practical and designed for human bodies is pretty much what he's about. That it's weird or theatrical or doesn't invalidate it as practical or technical. It's also not very goth or ninja at all - the title of the collection he prepared for his MA degree pretty much sums up his aesthetic: "When Football Hooligans Become Hindu Gods."

But could you stick that hat into a gothninja fit? 'Course. And >>6689727 could stick it on his head and it wouldn't look at all out of place. Hell, you could stick it on a rando American tourist and it wouldn't look out of place. It's almost insane how flexible it is considering its origins. Then again, it is just a ballcap with an interesting construction.

>> No.6692600

>>6692589

As far as the trainers go, if we're going by function, *all* trainers are at least theoretically techwear. And I think we should be going by function, because what does techwear mean if not clothing that's functional and maybe whose form directly follows from that function? And functional is different in different contexts: think the idea of "social engineering" in hacking. Neither of the fits you listed as techwear would be very useful if I wanted to, say, spend a night out on the town, except at venues that don't have even an informal dress code.

Plus, I think what we should be doing is encouraging and helping people to develop personal styles, not hew to archetypes half-cooked up the Internet hivemind. John Leonard had this great line: "use theory only as a periscope or a trampoline, never a panopticon, a crib sheet or a license to kill." If theory should be treated with that reluctance - and it should - all the more so for buzzwords created by Internet randos. Descriptive, not prescriptive. Etc.

And all these different buzzwords share similar concerns, aesthetically and technically, and more importantly, the same people on /fa/ seem to be interested in talking about them, for the most part.

Finally, pure styles are just boring, really. Who still gets excited looking at someone in an assymetric raw tee and pod shorts, or a bog standard OCBD and chinos, or a pair of Outlier slacks and a windbreaker?

Oh, and remember the rule: post more of what you want to see instead of complaining about what other people are posting. Not a moral rule, a practical one.

It's kind of hard, at least for me, to imagine retrofuture sandals, let alone lunarcore ones. SciFi usually only shows sandals when it wants to evoke Greece/Rome/Persia/whatever.

Especially for Lunarcore, these discontinued Vivobarefoots (the "Leonidas," actually) seem very possible.

Otherwise? I'd think just the most practical, spare sandals out there - the kind you'd get issued on a climate controlled spaceship where they no longer consider sandals too casual. Teva/Chacos/Luna if you want a barefoot sole.

I think looking for something like a breathable mesh top slipper would work better.

The current Vivobarefoot sandals are awesome, visually and functionally, but they weight the "future" (versus the "retro") really hard, and they seem very civilian, versus the more militaristic look you usually get with retrofuture-y stuff.

Any suggestions for a good rain jacket for cycling? Sub 200 would be good, but sub 100 would make me really happy

Reverse image search turns up nothing relevant.

Thanks!

Other than the logo near the bottom of the zipper yeah, it's good.

Techwear is retarded, you all look like poor latino workers who scavenged their cheap jacket off the street of whatever surburban white neighborhood they work at. Stop spending so much to look so poor.

I don't get it

If you don't like techwear just hide the thread, no need to shitpost in it. Do you see me shitposting in your "w2c shoes that are like these designer shoes but for only $100" threads!?!?

>> No.6699044

I really love all the stuff posted in these threads, but I rarely see fits with any of the gear people are copping. Do you guys want to post some fits in this style in this thread?

>> No.6699049

>>6698955
This style of outfits is what's concidered cheap and low class. Go to any wallmart or any general warehouse store.

i actually spent some time finding my alexander wang box in the trash and then arranging the boxes, and i went looking for my CPs but remember they are at my parents house i then spent at least 10 minutes figuring out how to send the picture to my email. not sure if it was worth it though
