ITT: List a brand you would like to learn more about.

Others link to interviews, articles or write from your own knowledge about anything related to that brand or designers philosophy, history etc.

I'll go first: M.A+

>> No.6688789

MA+ ('m-a cross', 'cross' or 'across') is the label of Italian designer Maurizio Amadei. True to name, it draws inspiration from naturally occurring meeting points and intersections, which are o fften expressed through his innovative folding techniques, original cuts and unique fabric selection.

Based in the countryside, north of Rome, MA+ stays true to its artisan surroundings. Amadei's fascination with the experimental and structure shines through his designs.

Many designs, shirts and leather bags are constructed from a single piece of material resulting in unique and innovative cuts. Another typical element is the frequent use of hand crafted silver buttons, accessories and small cross insignias on most of MA+ pieces.

Rick Owens

birthed in a spawn of alligator semen, the hairs of bison, Rick Owens wore a pair of Nikes so hard (he was abusing coke in LA nightclubs and roiding while making designer fakes) they elongated to define his aesthetic of "sportswear amped up to 11."

CCP is cool but do you guys who buy it really have that kind of money? I know some of you do, but all of you?

like if you make lots of money at a sweet job, okay, great. enjoy your expensive hobbies. I'm jealous.

but if you're saving up for this shit and then dropping that much money on one piece, what are you going to do when something spills or a car drives over a littered coffee cup and it sprays you (this happened to me once actually) or life shits on your clothing in some other way? What are you going to do when it's ruined? How can you not live in perpetual fear while you wear it?

I may not be breaking the mould by liking raw denim jeans, leather work boots, and field jackets, but knowing that every day that I wear them they're getting better-looking, that makes me feel great about wearing them. And I can afford to indulge that interest and make bad impulsive cops once in a while without dying of buyer's remorse. I can afford to lose everything, too. I've ruined shoes before. They were dear to me, and it sucked. But I got over it, because replacing them (while annoying) was possible. If they had been $2000 shoes, I don't know what I would have done. I would have been devastated.

Every piece of clothing has a limited lifespan. You have to be prepared for everything you buy to one day become beyond repair.

So do you all make plenty of money or are some of you making dumb purchases?

if you really are all just loaded then I'm sorry for posting this, enjoy your ccp

>> No.6689018

>>6689006
i dont think the lifespan is the biggest issue, again a reasonable person would probably just understand that things happen by chance and it's not like you can live life eliminating all the improbabilities

i think the issue is more...
if you're saving months for a ccp piece how will it fit against your allsaints?

>> No.6689015

>>6689006

no object you buy with be 100% permanent.

i would have no problem dropping $4000 on a jacket if i loved the design even if it lasted 6 months

i learn quite a bit from the products i own regardless of how often i wear them or how long they last, and the important thing to me is the knowledge i get from the things i buy.

It sounds a little too utilitarian to bitch about lifespan, I know. But it's a very real possibility that they could be ruined the first month you wear them. It's great to learn from the pieces you own, I don't disagree with that motive for buying one bit. But as dry and boring as it is, it makes a lot of sense to think about minimizing or at least mitigating risk. Partially just because it make it easier for you to relax!

>>6689032
I'm not really arguing about whether you guys can afford to buy a piece. I'm just wondering whether you can afford the mental trauma of losing a piece of CCP. I know how awful it is to lose an expensive piece, but my "expensive" pieces are barely 1/4 of CCP's price tag.

I just feel like if you save up and buy the coolest shoes of all time and love them to bits and then they get wrecked from some random act of God on your first month of owning them, you'll be spending a long time brooding about the pointless random cruelty of life and the way everything good comes to an end, screaming at God for answers, etc.

I just don't think it's wise to put yourself at risk of feeling a loss so crushing.

im not sure everyone gets attached to personal possessions in the same way, if something of mine, regardless of how expensive it is gets ruined, it sucks, but its not really a big deal to me, just get over it.

You poor, uneducated, stubborn fool,

It is with great interest that I must inform you that both your logic and your reasoning are flawed, and that you are obviously misinformed about the topic in hand. To be honest, you represent the small part of every community which lack the ability to think and comprehend things like humas do. In fact, your mental capabilities would closely resemble that of a lump of turd. I had second thoughts writing this, as I am not sure if you have the skills associated with reading. I kindly ask you, on behalf of everyone else, to kill yourself, thereby removing yourself from the gene pool to prevent people like from being born.
You have permission to writhe in your own idiocy.
