i dunno, there aren't really guidelines because everyone has different abilities when it comes to the art of copping
like if i were a lawyer bringing in $99999999.99 a year for a salary, i would just cop shit left and right considering i wouldnt really get buyers remorse y'know

but whatever, here's what i do:
>find clothing
>like it
>spend an hour or two trying to imagine all of the possible fits i could include it in and whether or not it really helps my wardrobe/the fits
>look around to see if the brand/designer is reputable or if the shit will fall apart really quickly or if i need to size up or w/e
>cop clothing
>receive clothing
>try it with fits, if it works as intended then ill keep it

but the best thing you can do is go to the stores and shit in real life, that's the only way you'll figure out what works and what doesn't
however, i live in the midwest, i'd have to drive like 10 hours to get to the nearest metropolis (dallas lol)
