I think they both have their strengths as garments, but as somebody who follows little industry quirks, I see the Levi's boot as the result of a bloated denim manufacturer responding to perceived demand and diversifying its product lines in a manner that comes across to me, personally, as thirsty.
Not thirsty on the part of the wearer, but thirsty on the part of Levi's, obviously cribbing designs from an established manufacturer who hits its own demographic and pricepoint in an ill-formed attempt to gobble up more market share.
It would be like going to McDonald's just for a cup of coffee, you know?
Also, they have sort of an association with poor people around here because they always end up in the clearance bin. Not the kind of thing anyone points out, but the kind of thing you notice when you pay attention to what everyone is wearing.

Nobody is as obsessive about garment manufacture as we are IRL, so don't worry. It's still a well made decent looking shoe and that's the bottom line.

And to register a dissent: while I agree with everything poet wrote about the Levis as product (massive company aping old design, but no one will think negatively of a person wearing them) I think they're definitely... not better than the Palladiums, but I see much more fit potential in them, because they're more tapered, and will get more pants to blouse over them more dramatically when tucked in, which I like.

I also like the side zipper detail and the extra, lower vent grommets.
