i had a levi's that i dated to probably the mid to late 80s. made in france. kind of a cheesy wash but it had a great fit, high armholes, sleeves could stand to be slimmer but i cut them off, currently it's sitting in my sewing room waiting for some drkshdw fleece sleeves to be sewn to it but i put it off because they are massively different sizes and im 2 scurred 2 cut em
i also have a modern levis that i got 4 free, looks cool oversized

>> No.6560476

>>6560458

yeah certain levis jackets are a nice fit, but definitely less severe slimness in the sleeves

the other one i really like is the asymmetric helmut lang one that has one leather sleeve and one denim sleeve, and the undercollar covered in leather, and half of the hem covered in leather

Hey dude would you be able to help me?
I'm looking to turn this jacket into a denim vest, but the pit construction is odd. Normally I'd just cut the sleeve off but I think i'd have to re-enforce it or something. What do you think the best way to do it would be?
Pit construction in next post.

it will slowly fray thru as you wash it if you don't finish that gusset
you should leave it with rick's goat sleeves imo

mark the armhole with chalk or something, and the pin along the line that you mark.

from the armhole line, measure out 1" onto the sleeve and make a mark, and do this repeatedly on the whole sleeve, creating a 1" line from the edge of the armhole onto the sleeve.

cut the sleeve on the line you just marked, leaving a 1" band of denim extending from the armhole.

You now have a build in facing, that you can press in half, and fold to the inside of the jacket and press along the whole armhole. then topstitch through the body onto the edge of your facing. you might have to clip the facing in certain places to the edge of the armhole, which might be a bit messy, but its probably the easiest way to make it into a vest with clean armholes.

if you want to be even lazier, you can just mark the armhole the way i said in the first place, and just cut along the line and leave it raw.

the other thing you could do, is cut it raw, and rip the sleeves flat and cut bias strips out of them and use them to bias bind the whole armhole.

Unfortunately I'm a bit of a curlbro and the sleeves just don't fit at all. The chest is perfect though which is what drew me to the vest idea.
