From the SLVR sale on Hautelook.

Wanted the Y-3 pocket shirt too, but I just can't stand branding of any sort, so the (as invisible as it was) "Y-3" on the asymmetric pocket killed it for me. I'll just save for another extra long button down.

>tho u did mention once that the pattern on the geobasket was slightly flawed?

there just was a problem with the pattern where it was obviously difficult for the sewer to topstitch the outsole on, the sole should have been about .3cm higher on the shoe to cover a certain raw edge.

>couldn't get a good pic w/ my cell but the seam runs str8 along the grain and it's actually the fabric that's twisted etc

if theyre on the same grain, possibly the inner layer is a different size than the outer layer causing the twist?

Holy shit, That's great!
As for things that aren't in the manual - what I mean is workflow and little ways to look at problems, like making your own drumkits that allow you to trigger several claps at once by assigning claps to the tom, hat, crash or hit buttons. This is not normally done, but if you do so you can really up the power of your percussion. Do the same for kicks.
Get a cheap midi cable and use part 1 to trigger something, anything. It can be a dirt cheap sampler or something on your computer.
Get the hang of using 'microscope' mode to make incredibly intricate drums.

There's a lot of little things that you'll come across, but as you do you can just ask me. I mean, we could probably just talk about this thing for hours. Especially when you start using patch editing - remember that you clan play 4 different sounds simultaneously for each instrument, but by default all but 1 are turned off. You'll see what I mean.
Also, I like to always pitch my drums down 1 or two steps. try it and see why.
That thing is really really deep, and people play it off, but if you are a creative person who knows how to use limitations to his advantage, you could easily create a dreamy, skittery, lush downtempo type of sound that would be almost universally appealing. If you really, really, really crunch on that thing? you can probably do cloud rap all day long.
The best presets are called "abstract hip hop" and "Artcore" (IMO), but none of the presets even hint at what's really capable with one of these things. You just have to invent a style that works for it. Learn what it does well and capitalize on that. Pitch your drums down for a screwed sound. Enjoy, and do NOT give up.

This might be a stupid question, but what benefits are there to using hardware when compared to software-based production? I've used software for years in my production, but I'm tempted to start buying actual things.

>> No.6554139

>>6554112
You see there's 7 numbered parts along the main mixer? Part 1 is by default reserved for midi communications. So the notes that you sequence in there are actually MIDI commands that can be used to control a computer or sampler. I'm pretty sure you can also just set it to work as another drum or instrument too.
One note - as you begin writing your songs, try to keep certain sonic ranges relegated to certain parts. Like you'll notice in the presets that the baseline is almost ALWAYS on part 2. That becomes more important late on when you want to remix the stuff you've already written, so for now just remember to write your songs neatly and consistently.

It never crashes, it sets up quickly and performance becomes PERFORMANCE! instead of 'playback'.
It's portable, you can plug it in and wear headphones and write music on a long flight like a boss.
It's tangible and has dozens of dedicated knobs and buttons. Making music becomes a tactile experience and not an excel spreadsheet. You will write different songs.
It looks a whole lot cooler.
It's a dying art form. Everyone lets software do the hard work for them nowadays and there's something great about a man who can do it all by hand from scratch with some VST spoonfeeding him good sounds.

It's funny, I've seen people who are used to VSTs and all that get their hands on a Buccla or a Moog and be astounded by how simple it is yet be unable to squeeze any real gems out of it. They wonder how tangerine dream and everyone else were getting those sounds. Well, those ground breaking artists are all hackers of a sort. They just took their time, and they always started from scratch.

I guess it's a different mentality.

by using overdubbing, by thinking outside of the box and by building sonic textures slowly, one layer at a time. A single piano chord is many different sounds happening all at once. In order to model something lush with a synth, you need to take your time and build it up layer by layer. Most VSTs do this for you, they're like sound fonts.
But of course, doing it the right way yourself will always sound better.

but looking at the shirt, it looks like both seams end exactly on the center back, so if the necklines were offset like youre saying, and the grain is straight, wouldnt the end points of the seam hit the neckline in different places, as opposed to one point in the center back? i guess possibly the seams were matched, and the necklines were in different places so they re-blended in inner or outer neck piece? idk i want to buy one now
