They did some amazing techwear jackets that would make you cream your pants, but of course they only made like 200 of each and sold them all to a small cluster of Japanese people at one particular Akibara outlet before immediately putting their corporate weight back behind drafting the sort of things we can expect to see on a steadily aging Vin Diesel throughout an array of "Pitch Black" sequels for the next 15 years or so.

In general, a lot of operator-core puts me off not only because the designs are overblown and only seem at home on overzealous gym teachers and war criminals - what gets me is that a lot of this stuff literally is the uniform of oppression, this is what you wear you're a private contractor operating outside of known conventions, razing villages to ground or calmly executing civilians. I don't know how else to say it, I just have negative associations with it.

I only like frogskins and maybe holbrook, everything else looks really obnoxious. The frogskins weigh almost nothing; you can go a whole day without even noticing them on your face, and avoid those annoying red marks most sunglasses leave between your eyes. The weight and lens color (ruby iridium; nicest lens color to look out of by far) is what switched me from Ray Ban.

+999,999,999,999.

But looking at the designs, what else could one expect? They're obviously fetishizing a certain cartoonish-wicked version of toughness. It's like Mercedes - out of people I've gotten to know well enough to judge, I've only met one person driving a late model one who wasn't an asshole, and it makes sense, because their aesthetic and design language is all about settled, self-possessed power.

Sunglass design in general is so stagnant. I don't think anything's really improved on balancing beauty and function since Persol 714s came along.

Egh, maybe it's because I've actually faced down riot cops, but I have an even more visceral negative reaction to seeing these than to seeing PMCs.

It also doesn't help that they're just riot cops and don't have to actually be good at what they do. I have a big aesthetic attraction to capability and skill, and I can sometimes see elite public sector soldiers in a good aesthetic light because of that. But with riot cops A) there's all that theory about how the military at least has an idealistic core, is even potentially revolutionary, etc. and the only and stated purpose of police is public order, that is, the defense of the status quo, and B) their only tactic is to block shit and be rough.

>> No.6549751

>>6549739
IIRC they can't.
Most won't as they don't need it. PMC's generally do things like Security contracting, they don't actually take combat missions like vidya makes them.
Camo also makes you a huge target as you present yourself like an actual military target.

Some flight pant looking cargos in washed out olive, a pair of those Palladium moonboots (worn up) and I'm saving for some Raeburn pieces. I copped a lot of Rick & Damir over the summer and I'm really hesitant to start dropping big dollars just yet.
I just recieved some pretty far out Japanese-made Prps cargos that blouse beautifully out of my Geos, but I need the right jacket to pull it all firmly into a tech-centric mindset. I'm thinking Pic Related or a Musto Sailing anorak, which is white and has reflect strips on the wrist and shoulders.
I'd like to have white on the feet, olive on the legs and white/silver/grey on top, at least for the first batch of fits.
