Hey /fa/. I've spent the last few years not giving a shit about what i'm wearing, just going for cheap jeans, plain T-shirt and Dc's pretty much all the time. Now I'm about to start university, and actually want to care about how I look. I'm unsure about how to go about acquiring a completely new wardrobe, and finding a style that fits me. Any help would be appreciated. The only thing I have to work on atm is something from /fa/ I came across.

Read the sticky
and I dare say, read the sidebar of MFA

basically absorb as much information as you can for the next few weeks before trying to buy anything

(that's what I'm doing)

>> No.6460506

Don't "reinvent your wardrobe" because you'll inevitably purchase pieces that don't fit/you decide just aren't for you a few months later, and if you purchased a whole bunch at once you'll be fucked. Just lurk around and save pictures of things you like, then buy them and incorporate them into what you already have.

I work at a large clothing store and here's a question that I often ask people who can't pinpoint their style.

If you could describe your style using specific musical artists and/or genres, which would you say best describes you.

Not OP but I enjoy listening Radiohead and Springsteen
I feel I would be better suited to 'dadcore' than attempting to be /fa/ but then I also don't know my 'own style.'

Start with some basics from Uniqlo.

I personally like J.Crew and Brooks Brothers.

Its a good start for a beginner. Let him go all rafsimonsrickowens when he knows what he's doing a little. It's a lot cheaper that way.

Go American Heritage/Dadcore

1 Pair Common Projects Achilles Low
1 Pair Red Wing Iron Ranger
1 Pair Rogue Territory Stanton 14.5 oz Jeans
5 Basic tees
1 Washed Leather Jacket

Build off that really, take time to start developing your style. Most of the shit above is innocuous as fuck and works with everything.

New to this fashion thing, thus I must ask. In general one should match canvas shoe color with shirt color? Leather or related material doesn't seem to follow such a scheme.

I like all of these things and I wear Acne(pants and basics)/A.P.C.(jeans/sweaters graphic tees)/Burberry(coats, jackets, chinos)/J.Crew(just for oxfords honestly). I don't know how I'd classify my style though... I'm light dadcore I guess with some street style tossed in.
