Is All Saints /fa/ ?

>> No.6444763

I've never bought All Saints, but the consensus here is that their clothes are cheap.

in my experience they are way overpriced for the quality of the clothes. buyer beware

It's H&M or better, often better, but made with better textiles (sometimes) and finished/treated.
The jeans are good.
I've bought some quality weird hoodies there.
Most of what they have is designed to look good in-store and on-line. That's really it. Besides, if you hit the right sample sales you can get the real garments all saints is knocking off for about the same price. Maybe a bit more.

ive been soaking my silk l/s after wears

it's absolutely true; fast fashion stuff is post processed to give it the sheen of luxury textiles, but it just rinses right out in the wash and their deceit is revealed.
luxury stuff looks all shiny and nice because it's an inherent property of the fibers and textiles that they select.

>>6445216
no, their stuff really does look like shit when the finish wears away. The materials themselves are terrible or middling most of the time. Allsaints does do great things - I love their parachute dress - but 90% of it is shit in a shiny wrapper.

What the hell are you talking about? I have several pieces from AllSaints and they look exactly like they did years ago. I sometimes wonder if /fa/ works in construction or wash their clothes in a river.

Can be, but aren't very high quality.

>> No.6445323

>>6445265
I also have some allsaints pieces that are still great years later, but I've lost too many of their garments to shoddy workmanship and poor construction.
I mean, there's a tipping point. I still head in there every now and then and see what's up, but it's getting rarer and rarer for me to find things that are genuinely up to snuff.

>> No.6445337

quality in the /fa/ sense is just a buzzword most of the times

buy their stuff and see it for yourself

i bought a jacket and some pants in 2011 and they're still perfect, people just like to say "but it's bad quality!!!!" because more regular people can afford it when they spent thousands on a couple of designer similar pieces, it's just a way to reaffirm their exclusivity, even if AS or whatever store clothes quality is perfectly fine

>> No.6445368

Their designs got real boring and conservative lately. Got a hoodie from them, hand wash only, cashmere turtleneck also (from tkstaxx), still in decent shape but likely due to me never wearing the thing.

Eh, why bother with All Saints really? If you wanna have simple stuff, might aswell get H&M beatarounds. If you wanna go /fa/, might aswell bump it up just a bit and buy Silent/DRKSHDW and the like.

>i own clothing
fascinating
totally invalidates well known procedures used to dress up second-rate textiles

i'm sorry for being a dick about this, but these procedures are no secret and your rebuttal is, "i'm okay with that!" and there's nothing wrong, you know, with accepting an unexceptional product. lord knows i don't always drink the best wine or eat the best cuts of beef. but the question was posed regarding the quality of allsaints and the only honest answer is, you can do so much better.

Depends on what you mean by cheap. If you'd consider AllSaints cheap, Schotts are just a hundred or so more, and they're fucking Schotts.

Also, Googling up their site to post a pic, this turned up on sale at Barney's for $189. Sold out now, but damn.

>>6445368
Oh, and on this, it seems to me there's a huge gap in the prices on the used market for AS and Silent/DRKSHDW stuff. For good reasons, mind you, but I own a few good basics from AllSaints, all of which I got for under $30 on eBay.

I might be wrong about this, but I look at AllSaints as being to "gothninja" what J. Crew is to "dadcore:" a blatant aping of the real stuff, but better than unambiguous fast fashion and good enough to be worth copping below retail, sometimes.

>> No.6447348

6447348

>>6447145
Yes, that's an apt metaphor, but keep in mind allsaints embraces far more aesthetics than just our lauded 'gothninja'. They also dumb down heritage workwear and military surplus. Men have it worse: the women's department usually has more finds and more variety.

>>6447115
I've said it before and I'll say it again - Allsaints makes their dollar on people who have taste without supporting knowledge. Perhaps taste is the wrong word, it caters to a mindset that gravitates toward dark, distressed and precious things but either doesn't know where to find them or hasn't been exposed to the real mccoy. That's a lot of people, actually.
What AllSaints does is curate to these people, do the legwork for them and then dumb down the result for good measure and low overhead. They charge a premium that reflects their mass market risk in producing arguably avante-garde offerings on a large scale but their markup is so extreme and their materials so middling that this risk is mitigated. Even sold at 50 percent off, AS is making a profit. Their unified supply chain and gradually cheapening contractors ensure this, as do the prominent locations and stunning design of their stores.
They've done some very interesting things with finishes and distressing, but those things just don't keep their shine, as it were. Too much of it strikes me as carefully engineered to hide the true quality.
AS has taken an unfortunate niche - dressing up the mediocre - blended it with a fair amount of art and slapped a laughably inappropriate price tag on it. Dollar for dollar, you're being severely robbed on their big ticket items, but people will buy them because they've no idea the garment being aped even exists, let alone where to find it.

it doesn't surprise me that leather jackets get called autistic here when all the ones you post look like from a russian military shop

>> No.6447457

I went in to try on some jeans once. The guy helping me stood outside the dressing room the whole time asking if I wanted to try on x item.

I only wanted the cigarette jeans, really. I usually wear a 29 or 30. They don't carry odd sizes so I tried on the 28 first. Holy shit, I could hardly get them up my legs, the fabric was so stiff. The thing was, the waist fit me almost perfectly, but the legs were uncomfortably tight. I then tried on the 30 and the legs fit well, if not a little loose. The waist size was fucking huge though. It was most definitely not a true 30, maybe a 32 or something.

I tried on a leather jacket for fun and it felt really stiff and tough to move around in.

I'd say allsaints is zara quality at acne prices
