What are your must have items? preferably making up one interchangeable outift. hard mode: only things you own. Fit pics are bonus points.
Pic not really related random grab from /fa/ folder

When you say minimalist, do you just mean basic items? Because I love minimalist-ish fashion but I'm not sure if that's what you're getting at.

In terms of "must-haves", I have a pair each of dark blue, light blue and black jeans and a bunch of solid colour t-shirts which I use for most fits and can be made to look quite different if you switch up the shoes and/or jacket

>> No.6380524

yeah thats pretty much how i dress few solid shirts that get swapped around and mostly layers or tops are switched around. Comfy sweaters and on point fit are what my closet is. im not next level enough for draping and goof ninja.

>>6380463
a few basic items for me:
dark indigo jeans
gray sweatshirt
light blue chambray shirt
white oxford shirt
white lowtop sneakers
brown boots

all very versatile items that can be worn in a number of ways

>> No.6380599

minimalism 101: buy less clothes, invest more. you dont need 7 sweaters, you need one dark gray and one black cashmere sweater. same for any other piece. dont buy much, but think a lot about what you need. stick to black white and gray, make colour an exception. loose any kind of accessoires. stick to slim fitting garments, have everything tailored.

>> No.6380617

>>6380599
>stick to black white and gray
no. you don't have to dress in gray scale to have less clothes. navy, beige, brown etc all can work together

>dark gray
>black
come on, that is a bit redundant.

why the hell does /fa/ always use minimal when they refer to basic? they're not fucking interchangeable, it's two completely different styles
these threads are always a confused mixture of both styles because of this stupidity

I wouldn't call that outfit minimalist

Questions for all the "minimalists" out there:
dont people you see regularly peg you as "that guy that always wears the same shit"?

I am not trying to argue against the fact that few, simple basics often make the best look, but if you always wear the same stuff you might seem poor (lol, that fag cant afford more than two shirts!), even if your stuff is high quality, or dirty (lol, that fag wears the same shit day in - day out, he cant even wash his shit!), even if you wash regularly but folks dont see it.

I know, dont care aobut what others think and all that, but únfortunately in many situations (work, social life) "what others think" is really important, if one likes it or not.

Clothing made with extreme attention to cut, material, proportion, etc. Reducing and remove the unnecessary to achieve a purity of form or silhouette or something that creates an immediate, striking impression. It doesn't have to be cold or mannish or sterile, but it does have to cut right to the point right away.

Well, that anon asked for my interpretation, so that's how I see it. I think of designers with strong, clean aesthetics like Francisco Costa, Phoebe Philo, Veronique Branquinho. They all know how to indulge in extravagance (and even maximal detailing from time to time like the furs that Philo has done recently), but the core of it is still really clean, sharp pattern making with a very, very controlled eye for textiles.

How so?
Personally, I have no problem with someone who has only a few items, that are of high quality and are matched well.

However may people will not appreciate that, and only see that dude that always wears the same shit.

>> No.6380861

That anon was addressing the fact that minimalism is more about an approach to design. If you choose to wear the same things over and over, that's fine, but you can have a minimalist wardrobe that is full of lots of clothes.

>> No.6380875

>>6380827
you're thinking of minimalism as in minimizing the amount of things you have, as if that were an extension of how minimalism is applied to clothing. But it's not. Yes, minimalism does tend to be devoid of significant internal shapes and structure but that's to reach the actual goal of that strong, defined outlined form. It's just one route to the same goal.
Being a 'minimalist' doesn't mean that you have to have little, it just means you're after that vague, abstract goal. Having little is just one way to try to achieve it, but it's not the only route one can take.

Well if you have 3 outer layers and 3 shirts thats already 9 different upper body combinations. So if you wore the same outfit 9 days later do you think anyone will notice/care? Also account for shoes and pants.

People will notice your clothes about 1/100th of the amount you do.

>> No.6385302

They only look good on bodies that do weight training of some sort, or on someone with at least good facial aesthetics.

They don't look good on /fa/, a group of emasculated, peacocking 4/10's, so by extension they will tell you it doesn't look good.

We'll I'm really thin, and I kinda look muscular because of that; I do work out occasionally, and I think my face looks better when I wear light colors.
