Honestly, the thing I like best about zara is the way that they rip off designs that are normally marked up by like 600%

It's like communism for clothes

A designer makes a piece, it looks good, everybody wants it. They decide to mark it up insanely, both for profit and to maintain exclusivity. The bougie bitches who buy it feel special

zara comes along and makes theyre own take on the design, sells it for 20 quid, the elitists are sad, the exclusivity is gone

the pretension is gone.

I can understand why it makes certain people mad, but thats what makes it that little bit more delicious for me. They take an industry that is up its own hole, take it's money and spit in the faces of the followers. Thats gangster as fuck.

you have such a dim understanding of the fashion industry that it's hard to believe you're ignorant and not trolling.
ignoring the questionable labor practices of zara's contractors, all they do is *distill* the idea. they aren't making the same garments, they are making pallid imitations with lack the sophistication of fit, patterning, or detailing. you aren't getting a good deal on a fashionable garment, you're overpaying for a poor garment with pretensions towards fashionability.

at any rate
>designs that are normally marked up by like 600%

closer to 500% of material and labor fees, but who cares? are labels supposed to be charities, or are they businesses that are entitled to profit from wise decisions?

>> No.6369716

>>6369697
>the exclusivity is gone

And so is the attention to detail and the quality of materials. There's nothing wrong with fast fashion, but there's nothing wrong with preferring the original, either. Each has its place in different customers' closets.

>> No.6369718

>>6369697
Zara wouldn't get away with making carbon copies

If you actually looked at their clothes, you would realize that they're not even that close in terms of looks

They did get sued successfully a few times and can get away with plebs buying their half-assed copies so they're not trying that hard to rip-off stuff 100% anymore

And if you think Zara uses even remotely wearable material for their shit, you're p clueless

>> No.6369721 [DELETED]

>>6369697
That's not how it works though.
what Zara REALLY does is rob the the poor, by promising to make them feel like the rich with spending as much cash. It's not communism, it's capitalism 2.0! Volume!
5/10, effective trall, poor logic

See, I don't care about any of that. It's a hobby to me. I'm not even trolling, but I buy clothes to wear, not to post on sufu or whatever. I skate, I work, I session.

And of course, they can charge whatever they like, that's their perogative. It's still immensely satisfying to see such a pretentious industry get raped though.

>>6369716
Truth. Really though, the attention to detail and quality is, to a large extent, irrelevant to me. I'm not going to be wearing the same stuff in a year, people change. Especially in fashion terms, as that's just the nature of the industry

>>6369718

>And if you think Zara uses even remotely wearable material for their shit, you're p clueless

I've successfully managed to wear clothes from zara, I don't quite know what you mean by this

>>6369731
The typical person who shops in zara doesn't buy the clothes to make themselves feel rich, they just like the way they look, and at least in europe, zara is seriously cheap. Like between 7-12 euros a tee, usually under 30 for jeans and trousers. These people don't know what designer the jacket is referencing, they just like the jacket.

Would you object if they were better with their materials and construction?
There must surely be a middle ground that would tempt you.
That said, I went wandering through the Zara tier stores yesterday and wasn't much taken by anything.

the bare minimum i accept is honest and safe labor practices and competent construction, but frankly i also prioritize thoughtful design, and so the answer is no; merely constructing the clothing better without improving the design would not tempt me as a consumer.
i can appreciate some middle ground options for their honesty; i like apc's denim, and ovate seems to be solid for its place in the marketplace, although i no longer wear the former and probably wouldn't buy the latter at this point.

and I do like clothes. I like useable clothes though. I'm an active person. I get sent links to runway clips and shit a lot though, which I don't particularly care about.

But yeah, I like shit like VTB, and (omgswagfag) supreme. Nice clothing that I can actually wear without having to be conscious of not ruining them.

Honestly, I'm not as into fashion as you. I like the board, I'm selective about what I wear, but it's not all that important to me, beyond me looking good. It's like with anything, really, I like hiphop a lot, but when I find myself talking to some old school backpacker hiphop head my mind is sad

you are on here pretty much whenever I am, and unless we are bonded by some kind of ESP, that would indicate that you spend a lot of time posting on 4chan about clothes. You have cultivated an identity on a subforum of an anime imageboard. Not to take away from you, you spend your time however you like, it's your time, but I don't care that much. About anything, really, except maybe my dog

So of course, we are going to differ in opinion on this matter
