I really wonder sometimes why there's not more really cutting edge fashion coming out of places like china. All the means for production are so close at hand, There's no limit to what a resourceful individual could have made en masse with relatively small amounts of capital.
could you imagine if a decent local designer got a hold of some of the hardware that powers the counterfeiting industry? Used it to push out their own groundbreaking designs, bypassed the traditional marketways altogether? 'Could it happen' is not the question... Why isn't it happening?

Cheap clothes are made to appeal to the most common denominator who doesn't demand anything specific. They don't see the clothes as ugly or unfashionable and no one specifically makes them that way. That's how you perceive it.
