You don't just wear a suit jacket with a kilt, full kilt attire will set you back about 250 quid to a grand or so. When it's being used for weddings and stuff it's tradition to get it made with your family's tartan.

If you wear a kilt to an interview you're a fucking retard though, we don't even do that in Scotland.

You don't even see them that often here in Scotland. I mean, they crop up but it's not common apart from formal events (weddings, some funerals, certain military parades, Burns' night ceilidh).
Honestly the thought of folk with "Scottish ancestry" wearing them across the pond makes me cringe. If I get to visit again though I'd probably wear mine every day I was there to be fair.

They are only ever worn by scots in parts of the Army or if you're attending a wedding/funeral/ceilidh.
