It's actually a Pratt knot. And for the time being I have to stick to the larger knots. I'm kinda short (5'8") and anything smaller results in the tie being too long. Any remedies for that?

I don't think you're making any huge mistakes.
The shirt looks a little too big for you in the neck.
The tie isn't that great IMO.
I find black suits pretty boring and think something like a grey suit works much better with different tie colours.
Also I can't really explain it, but everything kind of looks cheap.

A while back I went like two months without getting a haircut, so my hair was all shaggy and covering the back of my neck. When I finally got around to getting it cut, the guy cut it super short and I looked like one of these people when I got home. Horrifying, but comical.

Nothing. For work office environment he looks fine. The only advice I can give is to change posture, straighten his shoulders. Everything else is okay.

Thanks for the honest feedback. It's difficult to figure out what actually looks right when the only people advising you are either 50-year old women who don't want to hurt your feelings or people trying to sell you something.
