not OP, but I did every six weeks for two years to get moderately curly/heavily wavy hair to get to just touching my shoulders.
Still go in every five weeks now, I've been doing all sorts of shit to prevent it from getting frizzy/split ends but in the end I always need to go every five weeks or it'll look shitty.
That said, it's different for everyone, a friend of mine goes in every 10 weeks or so, but he has straight hair.

I've got hair a lot like Miles's, a little kinkier/wavier/curlier, but pretty much the same. It's gotten a little longer than I like, and I'm wondering if I could just get a pair of barber's scissors and go around to shorten it up.
