Hello there /fa/shionistas, coming up here from /sp/ not much of a fashion guy which is why I come to you for advise. You see I'm trying to better myself. I had a bad break up and I really let go of myself. Little by little I'm trying to get a sense of average fashion. I'm working out and finding a spiritual path so that's covered. Clothes and shoes not so good. Normally I wear a plain tshirt, jeans and some low top chucks. I'm 5'7, 167 lbs. Manlet pretty much. I feel that by buying a nice pair shoes one can begin their journey to better dressing. I'd like your opinion on these shoes. Personally I like them and will be my switch of sneakers to actual shoes. Any advice and tips will be highly appreciated

anyone out there? Can anyone here me?

shoes are a pretty big part of any outfit, those are shit. I mean you might be 36 and balding, which might suit you fine.

>5'7, 167 lbs
I'm assuming you aren't /fit/, so you're going to need to lose some weight (30-40 lbs) before you work on being /fa/.

they're hideous

I'm twenty five. I guess I'll look into other shoes. Any advice?

>>6243409

That would be too skinny. My goal was to drop down to 150. I do push UPS so my chest is fit. I do have a small belly but I'm working on that.

>>6243425
As mentioned my taste in fashion is that of a guy who drinks beer and watches sports

This is the worst advice that /fa/ gives all the time. And it's flat out wrong.

Will he be able to wear fashion items at his weight? Of course not.

But if he likes those shoes, then there's room to improve his clothes before he even sets foot on a treadmill.

I know working out is essential. I'm already working on that.

The shoes, I like for everyday use. I'm just trying to find clothes that will go well with them. I will look into other stuff since that is what I'm trying to do.

What is it you look about the shoes?

those shoes are pretty awful. they look like rip-off doc martens

>>6243589
this is very basic but an almost fool proof way to "look good"

They're doc martens

>> No.6243673

We'll also need a budget OP. You can't go wrong with a button down and a pair of raws though, or a pair of chinos. The most important thing is that they fit.
Also don't buy too expensive shit since you're going to lose weight by the looks of it. Clark's DBs are a good pair of chukkas to start with and they're fairly inexpensive as previous anon mentioned. I would recommend the beeswax ones as I own a pair of dark brown suede and they're a bich to maintain; the leather ones will age in a much finer way.
If you want to develop taste, you could go on the /fa/ archive and look at some of the inspo shit on there. Pinpoint the things you like and the things you don't like about people's outfits and try to replicate that without trying too hard; stay as simple as possible.

I like the simplicity about them. I've always had a thing for brown shoes. I feel they would look good with some 501's

As far as shoes go, those are far from simple.

I'm not the type that will buy 300 dollar shoes, but I will spend a decent amount if I'm head over heels for them. I will look into the archive and do as you said. I know this won't be an overnight thing. Thanks.

Those are nice. My only issue issue is that they're high tops

Not a boot guy?
Anyway OP, I'd recommend some 1461s as your first pair. Cheap, good quality, and good looking.

That's a pretty good starting point.
You want simple, brown low tops, correct?

Yeah but saying 130lbs is "too skinny" is crazy.
For his height that would be about normal.

I wouldn't recommend mocs until OP has a pair of round toes to be honest.
Wingtips are very versatile OP, they can very well serve as everyday shoes and you can wear if you ever need to do anything formal.
Red Wing's are also really high quality and durable, I have a pair of Beckman's I wear nearly every day and would highly reccommend their stuff.

Boots you can grow into? something basic and dadcore that are versatile? Clarks desert boots in beeswax could be a good starting point, also look at red wing boots. Buy something tasteful and verstatile.
