Let's start something original. Not your usual w2c fragrance thread.

Instead of asking for a specific smell, describe a feeling or a vibe that you want to get (or you want people to get) while smelling the cologne. Don't necessarily give ingredients or notes, just ask for the sensation and atmosphere it projects.

Are you young? You might want to look into generic stuff like Davidoff Cool Water, Abercrombie Fierce, or Playboy EDTs.
Surprisingly, Playboy New York is actually quite good for its price range.

>> No.6166275

Something that's soft enough to not overpower your nose, but individual enough that it's a recognizable scent. I want something where I take a qt3.14 out and it's a relaxed winter night, just the two of us, and when the night ends she HAS to remember dat smell.
GO:

May I suggest YSL La Nuit? Generic, I know, but to me it fits your description.
If it's for winters, maybe Versace Dreamer?

Call me strange, but I also found Piment Brûlant by l'Artisan Parfumeur to be good for the night, especially winter. It's definitely not a party fragrance, but it's still energetic.

Something that doesn't "smell like cologne", something that gives the person an impression that I'm not wearing any, just that I have a certain scent. Does not have to be masculine in any way.

Girlfriend can barely breath when someone passes by in the bus with any noticeable amount of perfume, that's why I'm asking.

>> No.6166288

>>6166286
Oh, just saw you said "individual enough". Well La Nuit isn't as common as Code or 1M, but still.

To me, Abercrombie Fierce doesn't actually smell like cologne. It smells rather manly, but it doesn't really smell like a cologne.
Do you want a scent that corresponds to something in particular? You might want to look into specific scents with specific notes; for example, colognes with strong sweet smells (caramel, tobacco/vanilla, coconut...).

Or you could try Bacon. Look it up on Fragrantica.

>> No.6166308

>>6166299 here. Also look into "beverage" type fragrances if you're into that.
I can recommend Ungaro pour l'Homme (vodka and wood), Fou d'Absynthe by l'Artisan Parfumeur, Creed Virgin Island Water (distinct rum and coconut, it's an exotic yet formal smell)...

I wear all-black most of the time. I want something that makes me smell *something* other than just my skin when people are closer to me. I live in a city, so I'd like to have something that doesn't remind you of that. I hate the smell of olives, tobacco and most flowers. I really like the smell of tea. I'm on a budget, so I just want one scent for the summer, and one scent for winter. I live in the north. I said that having a gender-specified scent isn't really what I'm looking for unless it fits the criteria. I just want to be the person who has a faint smell of x, maybe mixed with y, without people thinking of it as a cologne, but instead how I live. I hope I'm not causing too much trouble.

id go with versace the dreamer

generally i hate designer frags and prefer niche shit. but this is a good one and very diffferent from stuff ive smelled.

juniper/lily/tobacco goodness. not every girl will like it. but grills with good taste will. it is quite a 'mysterious' smell to me. like, i KNOW i like it, but its hard to pick WHY. it sticks with you, as i am sure it does with the bitches.

i dont know many people that wear it either.

>I hope I'm not causing too much trouble
No problem.
Won't recommend anything with strong alcohol then.

So you like tea? Hmm...
I remember thinking that l'Artisan Parfumeur's "Thé Pour un Été" had a distinct tea smell. But don't blind buy, test it first.
Silver Mountain Water by Creed is also worth mentioning, but it is very expensive.
Gucci Pour Homme II is surprisingly "natural" smelling, though maybe the tea isn't as strong as with the others. You might get a little bit of cinnamon too.

Unfortunately, I'm not really familiar with tea scents so I can't help you more than that, sorry.
As for the winter/summer, it's not really relevant. A fragrance is specifically fit the summer if it's very fresh, or the winter if it's warm and "cozy" (such as Tobacco Vanille). You shouldn't have much problems wearing a tea scent in the winter.

I hope I've been a little bit helpful. You can always ask on Fragrantica for more details, they're very helpful.

Dreamer is definitely a great scent from Versace, definitely above their Blue Jeans and other stuff they do.
It's true that it's "mysterious", maybe more than La Nuit since it gives a less active/urban feeling. Dreamer really deserves its name.

something that doesnt smell like cologne?

go on luckyscent.com and get a few Comme des Garcons' samples. they are good at putting out colognes that smell out of the ordinary.

id recommend 2 man. it smells a tiny bit woody like a gentlymans cologne. but there is a lot of smokiness behind it that overpowers the wood. and mixed in with it are nutmeg and saffron to give it a spicy feel, along with leather notes and just a touch of sweet incense.

overall, it is a very well blended fragrance and comes across as very manly without smelling like your grandpa, or really smelling like cologne at all. it just smells good.

>> No.6166372

>>6166359
Yes, CDG makes colognes that smell unconventional and complex while not being overpowering. I think he's searching specifically for tea, though.

"Comme des Garçons 2011" smells like glue. I wouldn't wear it, but it's awesome.

>> No.6166387

>>6166372
your suggestion of Gucci Pour Homme II is probably the best.

not an overpowering tea scent but it is still in there. most of the niche tea frags, like l'artisan and others, will probably be too pungent and smell too much like he is wearing something. not subtle enough.

and creed piss me off. overpriced. to me, creed is one of the few perfumeries where you are actually paying for the name, not the quality of the juice.

I hesitated when recommending Gucci because it has a subtle cinnamon spicy-sweetness. It definitely doesn't smell like a generic cologne, that's for sure.

Pungent? If it's in terms of intensity, then he should worry about the number of sprays, not the perfume itself.
Creed is undeniably quality, though I agree on the fact that they're overpriced. They do make very complex and astonishing colognes - Aventus being a classic, but Himalaya also get me.

>> No.6166410

>>6166396
i dont get Aventus.

i mean, i like it. but i dropped 2 hundy on a bottle of that shit (before i learned that sampling is the key). i dont 2 hundy like it. i just have found so much better out there in the world of niche. id never recommend creed to anyone just based on the price alone.

i'd rather spend the same money and buy 2 bottles of l'air du desert marocain.

>> No.6166427

I want something that gives an adventurous (like when you just quit everything, when you travel, etc), dark (mysterious and masculine), and nostalgic smell

Like when you go stargazing, or sit around a campfire with bros, or do acid for the first time, or when you're lucid dreaming and just walk, discover things... A comfortable yet fresh and thrilling feeling of freedom.

The feeling of motivation, when you grasp how powerful you are and how your life can potentially be awesome.

The dizzy feeling of excitement you get when you sit on a Californian beach in a summer evening and don't have to worry how tomorrow will be like, as every day is a new day.

The following sentence, summed up in a scent: "I believe something different can happen."

Now find me a cologne that corresponds to that. If you can

Thanks! Will write these down. Tea comes in a myriad of scents by the way, I'm thinking mainly earl grey and some kind of sweet vanilla-y tea.
>>6166359
Will check out CdG, actually saw some in the store a few days ago. Though I am not interested in scents that smell exclusively manly. I have no trouble being that guy who "upon closer inspection has a faint smell of tulip"
>>6166345
I like tea, wood, pine/spruce forest, dirt, the scent of night and morning and stone a lot.

Any strong scent is not good, because my partner will literally be unable to breath. I wear scentless deodorant because of it.

I did say that Creed was overpriced. No doubt.
I was talking about the smell of Aventus. You can't deny that it's really high quality, nothing malljuice-tier.

>l'air du desert marocain
Oh yeah, my nigger. That's truly awesome. Another cologne that deserves its name.

>>6166427
That's going to be complicated... Hmm, let's see.
Based on what I remember, I can recommend the following.

Abercrombie Fierce (I recommend it a lot, some call it pleb, but I think it's truly good), Lacoste Noir L12.12 (it has a dark and adventurous vibe, definitely), Versace Dreamer (it has that oneiric yet mysterious vibe of freedom you described), United Scents of America California...

I'll try to think of some more, but you should try those first.

>>6166436
Tea, wood, forest, dirt, the scent of night and morning, stone.
All right, what can we do with that... Let's see.
First of all, can't really say for dirt. Most woodsy fragrances can give a "dirty" smell, too, something wild that could come from a forest.
The scent of night and morning is pretty abstract but I get the point. Basically, you want something that smells like nature.

For pure tea, and especially Earl Grey, you can try Earl Grey Tea Demeter which is unisex. But there really are a shitload of tea themed colognes, so let's skip to the next one.

Wood. Same thing, very broad. However, if we're talking pine and spruce, She Wood Velvet Forest by DQUARED (albeit a woman's perfume, I think) is quite good. You'd have to test it. Original Vetiver by Creed is overpriced but has some pine notes too.
As for spruce, I can only recommend L'Eau 2 Kenzo by Kenzo.
Honestly, I think you're also good with what was mentioned previously. The specific scents you are talking about are quite hard to find, so you should go to a mall and ask. Also think about body lotion and aftershave, as some have these scents.

A strong scent depends on how much you spray it, imo.
Good luck in finding your perfect scent, bro.

Ok, so I smelled this one a couple years ago and can't find it anymore.

To describe it in one word: Mysterious. Even for my well-versed nose, there were no distinguished components discernible. This, combined with the fact that it was very subtly applied, made it radiate something I can only describe as "clean darkness" - something ice-cold, savvy, pure, thin, sharp.
Nothing woody, nothing flowery, nothing citric, nothing spicy, nothing voluminous. Maybe a combination of the above, but in a way that made it sleek and unobtrusive, neutral. At one point, I thought it to be CK one unisex, and although this too does give a similar vibe, it wasn't nearly as refined as what I smelled that april morning three years ago.

start smelling. I'm not kidding, start to think about smells actively in your daily life. Good ones just as much as unpleasant ones (because even very unpleasant ones like the smell of feces are applied successfully in high-end fragrances - in tiny amounts, of course). There are very expensive smelling kits out there you can buy (like this one: http://shop.osmoz.com/default.asp)) - those are perfect tools for training your nose, but pricy as fuck. I recommend starting to just smell everything in daily life (grass, wood, stones, flowers, wet clothes, etc) and, if you can, compare them. Then, to step up your game, you can just buy essential oils in some oil shop - you can get 10 ml bottles of different essential oils for a couple bucks. That's good to find out how certain common ingredients like sandalwood, bergamot, ylang-ylang etc that you won't find in your daily life smell. Of course, you should visit a local perfumery often and try out different scents - most of them let you try them out for free, I go there every couple weeks and check the smells, look what I like and don't like, see if I can discern certain scents, etc.

Then, of course, there's books on the topic. I've read a few and found them valuable, but the real art of smelling can obviously not be taught by a book.

I want people to feel Nostalgic but at the same time ALMOST inferior to me, simply because of how good it smells. I've only experienced this once. Someone was wearing this really nice smelling deoderant or fragrance in a lecture and the 2 rows in front/behind were asking the whole thing "Who smells so good/ whats that fragrance?"

Completely inexperienced here. Saw this pic a while ago and saw some positive reviews for farenheit and givenchy gentleman. But before i cop any id like some more specific advise.

Not sure if any of this info helps, but im 20, student, east asian. Would like something modest, calm, not too sharp on the nose and suitable for winter.

Four squirts overall? Won't that be more than a little overpowering?
I just do one squirt at the point where my chest meets my neck and that seems to give enough fragrance that you can smell it when I'm close, but not enough that I make the whole room stink of it.

Hello friend. Thank you for this excellent thread.

I am looking for something that makes me feel like Emperor Napoleon charging into battle on his horse. Something fruity with a masculine base is what I imagine. It must also be all natural.

I want a fragrance that smells reassuring while not being too warm for summer.
Basically I don't want an agressive "wet pussy cologne", but something calm, relaxed and soothing while still retaining manliness.
I guess that I want something more suited for the evening considering that I need it to be rather dark and subtle.

Some notes I think I might like are coffee (if it's not too sweet), coconut (if it's not too heavy), mint (real mint, not synthetic gum-like scents)

I want something that is sweet and slightly peppery, like a slimy tentacle from one of doujinshi writhing its way up into a young girls skirt.

It has to be INTENSE, but not overpowering. It must command attention, and knock out any faggot who tries to outshine me in any manner.

The lasting power must be top notch, like an erect cock at attention eagerly waiting to enter into the frenzied ahegao faced whore who wants nothing more than to bask in the smell of my hard on.

The bottom notes will be like my climax, fruity and irresistible. So delicious. It must drip down her fuckin face (I won't spray her face with the cologne FYI). She's got to beg for more, like her mind crumbled as soon as I reached climax, and now all that's left is a fucking whore pig who is now a slave to my musky dick.

I'm thinking black xs or le male
