Isn't it time to fix it?

>> No.6166023

Absolutely
But no one will do it.

>> No.6166028

Of course it is OP.

At the very least it should be deleted from the front page so newfriends don't have to be told to ignore it

I'm working on new content for the sticky and have contacted the person who owns the site. He's open to any help we can offer. A few things I'm working on:

>A contemporary guide to creating a basic men's wardrobe
along with that:
>list of gererally recommended brands for shirting, denim, chinos, shoes and boots, jackets, possibly bags
>an extended guide to jeans including a recommendation list sorted by price range, a list of resources for raw denim, maybe some q&a regarding denim and selvedge
>an updated store list, hopefully along with helpful info on each (I'm constructing a questionnaire to send to companies) as well as a reorganization by price range. I may release the questionnaire at some point so people can add to it.
>A new set of hair pictures including longer hairstyles. Hopefully we can organize them by style length, along with the archived "ask a barber" threads, and maybe some links on how to choose a hairstyle (though I've honestly never seen a good one) and other galleries

If you want to help or have suggestions of things I should include, shoot me an email.

Honestly, I don't think there should be any information on the site about tripfags at all. There's no point in it. Many of them are no longer active, many of them are not that helpful, and ultimately they don't deserve the attention. In addition to that, knowing who they are isn't relevant to people viewing the sticky in the first place.

We don't need any more fucking "Guides" and "Infographs". What we need is solid advice and fashion philosophy / ideologies so that people will actually UNDERSTAND what they're looking at. Infographs and Guides only encourage basic bitch clone outfits and no real involvement with FASHION.

well a main one that would make the board a lot better if more people understood is that everyone is on different levels, some only want to look socially acceptable / safe, for others fashion is more personal and a deeper translation of their self, info on high fashion so less people are like 'lol u cud nvr wer dat irl', discussion on when fashion becomes more than just 'clothes' to oneself, the state and impact of fast fashion, quality>quantity, image and presentation in relation to fashion and personal style, suggestions and tips on different phases most people will experience during their journey, gaining more confidence, understanding why you and others dress the way they do

basically it would be alot better if people here were more intelligent / aware of fashion on a deeper level than just "Where can I buy this? How can I look like this? Is this good? Is this bad? Will this look good with this?", becoming victims because they're too bothered by everyone else's opinion here.

also the first thing on the sticky should say something like 'remember this is 4chan, don't take everything so seriously and take a step back to examine and think about some of the shit being posted here'

im not him but i can guess of a few off the top of my head

1) dress to suit your personality
2) dress in what looks the most natural on you
3) dress in what makes you the most confident and relaxed
4) be aware of your surroundings and people's expectations
5) do not follow seasonal fashion or trends

faggotstore is essentially how to not look like a neckbeard, which was good before, but now effay has transcended that, so we need better stuff, more akin to the taste thin that fascist wrote

attached is something like what i mean

Can we have a section of the sticky be devoted to styles for each season and inspiration pics for those seasons too?

>> No.6169433

>>6169383

Yeah come on now fashion isn't as simple as following a template guide, I mean yeah they are good for looking presentable but it doesn't take the reader elsewhere, it leaves them off in a dead end. Where do they go from there? Some will lurk and read and develop, but others will become confused, and closed minded when presented with alternative styles and information here.

I guess my point being is that there needs to be wisdom that introduces new people to the wide world and spectrum of fashion. It can be a truly beautiful thing in one's life, and the fact needs to be put out there. They can decide to follow or reject the path (Which isn't always necessarily a bad thing, fashion isn't same for everyone like I said) but either way I hope it would improve the quality of the board

I have a personal tumblr I keep to record some of these ideas and quotes and interview segments relevant to this kind of stuff (including good posts I see here) which I might release here soon, right now it's a little premature

>> No.6169484

>>6169293
I agree with this. Explanations about more essential concepts are needed, such as Silhouette and fabrics. In a way, it is still a guide on how to dress but it's more intelligent and more helpful.

>> No.6169491

>>6169484
Also fit (which should go with silhouette as not every fit should be a "close" fit) and cuts of clothing.

Its something I've considered doing because the image-only+ reblogging + mundane post tumblrs are literally the most vapid things i've ever seen but tumblr seems to be popular

I haven't written much myself, there was one somewhat reflective post i made a while ago on questioning my methods and intent of dress

right now there's only about 40 posts and they're all interview segments, quotes, and text. i actually made it to record my own learning but thought it would be a great way to give back to /fa/ because believe it or not i've learned alot here

i'll release it sometime soon 4 sure

You guys have to understand that a sticky ultimately is a starting point. By its nature it's going to deal with very basic information. And people still benefit from starting with a basic wardrobe; with simple, unassuming articles of clothing that fits and gets them on their feet. Some people will go on to explore fashion more deeply, others will not. There needs to be some acknowledgement of the personal nuances involved, but that and that alone would be useless to newfags.

>> No.6169760

>>6169738
see
>>6169383

anyways we could just split it into "I'm a neckbeard" and "I dress okay already" sections

>> No.6169793

>>6169760
I don't think it should be segmented like that. People who aren't totally new can still benefit from things like a resources section for further reading. It doesn't need to be over complicated or obfuscated.

I think organizing things into price ranges does some of that work naturally. People who want to commit the bare minimum will be looking at places like target, whereas other people will be looking at shops like unionmade and mrporter

>> No.6169869

>>6169848
i would use this chart then i guess
its arranged by wearability/accessibility though, which I would say is better than price
