I see these designers as artists. If I were to talk to one of these designers, I would try to appeal to their sense of curiosity. Maybe they would like to take up a new artistic challenge.

Right now, I'm capping the project at $50,000. So, in reality, that would not appease Rick Owens or the Recht guy. I would have to appeal to some up-and-coming designers, I guess.

I think you may be over analyzing it. You don't want an unprofessional job done, yet high profile designers will most likely be out of reach because their available time (designers are busy as it gets) and thus would cost over your budget. I think you mentioned being in NYC and that means you have a good design and sex scene around you. Go to shops, ask around and see if anyone has done it before. Ask if they can put you in contact with any manufacturers who could set you up with someone.
