past and recovered /fa/ggot here, I remember when Clark's DB's were all the rage two years ago or so. I just started wearing them again, they are quite comfy. What are today's opinions on these boots?

>> No.6057659

>>6057642
Opinion is that they suck because they've become quite popular. Why does it matter though? If you like wearing them and thinks it looks good, then wear them. I'm wearing Beeswax DBs and giving zero fucks.

>> No.6057675

Looks great OP. Have the same suede DBs but the winter and street salt fucked them up.

>> No.6057679

low top chukkas are the new thing. Specifically in unusual colors.

This. If you like it then why should you care about what other people think?

>> No.6057697

its all about dem ricky and raf atm OP. cdbs hit mainstream some time ago so /fa/ hates em now
i actually dont find cdbs worn much irl actually (melb)

I was going to continue wearing them either way, Its just when I wore them it brought out all the memories of browsing /fa/. so I figured I may as well ask on what their current status is.

Does anyone have any old and beaten up Beeswax DBs they can take pictures of?

I got some CDB's about a year ago and just recently the seeming has started to tear off the sole, is there anything I can do about this or should I take it to a tailor or something (do tailors work on shoes?)?

Hey guys, what's going on in this thread?

>> No.6058898

>>6058877
Cobblers are shoe people, Tailors are fabric people, look for a cobbler.

If the sole is removing itself from the body, you need to have that fixed, it shouldn't be too much monies, but I'd honestly just suggest buying a new pair of clarks rather than getting them fixed if this is a major issue.

>> No.6058900

>>6058877
What you'd be looking for is a cobbler.

>> No.6058896

>> No.6058916

>>6058898
Really? It's that big a problem? I didn't start buying nice clothes until a year or two ago so I usually just threw away shoes when they started to tear (I used to wear Vans and shit), but I'd think with shoes like these, a simple re-sewing would fix it right back up.

About how much would it cost to get them repaired? If it's close to how much a new pair of DB's is, then yeah I might as well buy new ones I guess

>> No.6058930

>>6057684
That's /fa/ and 4chan in general.

>> No.6058935

>>6058916
It would likely be around 20-30$ depending on your cobbler and the issue, it could be less if it is just starting and you are getting it done preemptive to any real damage.

If it needs a full resole, it will be more expensive. It all really depends on how bad it is or whatever. I have two pairs of Aldens right now in New England being recrafted, that is costing me around 300 for both pairs. It isn't cheap homie, and with Clarks, they really are quite cheap, so it is almost worth it to use them as dispensable footwear.

I'd still take them into a cobbler and get a quote or whatever, look for a moneysworth & best, its a cobbler chain.

>> No.6058937

I know this isn't really related, but instead of starting a new thread.

What do you guys think about Wolverine 1000 miles? Worth the price?

>> No.6058939

>>6058916
Probably $40-60 to have them resoled, depending on the sole you go with. Buying new ones because they cost alomost as much is, IMO, missing the point.

>> No.6058941

They are great shoes. Casual and stylish while holding up well very if you spray them down with suede spray. Very good deal for $100 or so pair of shoes.

Worth the price? Sure, but make sure they are the boot you need and that will work for you, because that is truly what makes them worth the price.

What do you mean by this?

>> No.6058952

>>6058896
They're actually five months old, though that was right after I applied Obenauf's.

>> No.6058953

>>6058946
Those could likely just be restiched and sent on their way, so it shouldn't be a massive deal. I'd just have them restiched, don't worry about buying new ones as it isn't that big of a deal.

IF however, the leather/suede around that area is what has torn, and it isn't the thread that has let go, then it is a little bit more of an issue. If it is just the thread splitting, then it is a lot easier to fix.

Don't bother resoling them, just have them stitched back.

>> No.6058958

>>6058953
The leather is fine, the threading is just all fucked up.

Thanks for your advice, I'll find a cobbler tomorrow

>> No.6059103

>>6058937
It depends man. Do you really like that style of leather boots? 1k are pretty "dadcore" and if you end up changing your mind about what you like to wear, you're gonna regret it later. I know that happened with my clarks and all that j.crew shirts i have in my closets.

Quality-wise, they're fucking awesome. I have the Krause version that I got from the AE guy last year if you wana see what it looks like not all gussy uped

>> No.6061290

as long as you can pull it off, who cares?
i wear my clarks malis every day in the fall/winter

>> No.6061482

I wear my beeswax dbs practically everyday. I personally think they're great boots, no lie.
