>spending more than $100 on basic t shirts, sweaters, jeans or chinos.

$800 for a plain black RO tee is laughable, you plebs are getting sucked into brandwhore spending just like niggers.

I can understand dropping cash like that on sneakers/shoes or a jacket but a t-shirt?

I don't care how rich you are, at that point you're literally buying the shirt for the brand.

Quality is finite, eventually you will be over paying for a garment.

Unless Dicky is weaving NASA technology into his shirts (which he's not) you're paying for cotton.

someone post that infographic with the rick shirt and the basic tee from asos that shows the comparison in price.

>> No.6026517

obviously but it's worth it for me to pay $200 for a good tee. if you spent that much money once you will see the difference.
quality of it is probably worth $10 but i can't get exactly that one from any other brand. it's not just a basic tshirt with straight seams and because you can't get anything similar by a cheaper brand it is worth it for me.
if your standards are really low you probably wont see a difference because it looks the same if you look at somebody wearing it except of course it's more flattering to your body

That's not so much being "snobby" or "rich" as much as it is recognizing the relation between cost and value. To get quality treated leather with a decent lining that's not cut to fit a mid-life crisis biker, you're going to drop some serious money. From what I've seen, brand new quality leather jackets should start around $600 for the bare minimum.

No one's stopping you from slumming it at Wilson's Leather, but why settle?

The specialty tees are more expensive (e.g. printed silk), but the basic tanks and tees are around $300-$400. A little more if you get things like double-layered or cashmere/silk.

I'm sure nobody in real life judges your individual pieces unless they're assholes. If you can incorporate good cheap basics into a good fit it will be good. Obviously if you're wearing some statement pants and shoes a simple top block would suffice. But expensive basics also fit, feel, and look different. It's not necessarily that they're better, but a simple cross/ribbing/drape/sheer nature/hyperslim fit and other qualities that are often found in high-end basics can add a lot to an outfit if that's the aesthetic you're aspiring towards.
I personally don't own any rick basics as they are expensive for me, but I do have a few OAK long tees that I absolutely love. Definitely different from your regular plain tee.
