Like many chains, it has cheaper versions of a lot of its clothes to make it more accessible. It's just another example of breaking up your consumer base to make as much money as possible: Make cheaper shit for the people with less money, and more expensive shit for the people with more money. These fits would probably fit into the latter category.

Anyway, I quite like these, even that pink suit. Not a fan of the striped jackets and all of that crazy shit, but all of the pants look great, and I would love that brown linen suit.

For a bit of context, one of the more poignant scenes in the novel:

"He took out a pile of shirts and began throwing them one by one before us, shirts of sheer linen and thick silk and fine flannel which lost their folds as they fell and covered the table in many-colored disarray. While we admired he brought more and the soft rich heap mounted higher – shirts with stripes and scrolls and plaids in coral and apple green and lavender and faint orange with monograms of indian blue. Suddenly with a strained sound Daisy Bent her head into the shirts and began to cry stormily. “They’re such beautiful shirts,” she sobbed, her voice muffled in the thick folds. “It makes me sad because I’ve never seen such beautiful shirts before.”

I always read it as a signifier of how these expensive accoutrements are the means by which Gatsby aspires to a lifestyle and cultural heritage he will never truly be able to attain.
Gatsby is a (Jewish?) gangster in hiding, pretending to be an old money American blue blood. Some folks can see thru his ruse, Daisy being one of them. The sadness that she feels is an expression of how futile it all is, these great lengths he's gone to in order to simulate a life that never could have been his. They are beautiful, expensive and fleeting extravagances, trappings of wealth and culture that are ultimately meaningless.

Even if that was the case, Daisy could still be crying for the same reason - because of how the shirts are, in the end, meaningless. If you want to take the device a bit farther you can argue that Daisy is confronted here with how meaningless her own life is - she married Tom for money, not love, for access to the very trappings of wealth that Gatsby is tossing about like yesterday's newspaper. She's realizing her entire life is built around facades and that she squandered the one real and honest thing she had - love.

Oh wow, that's something else... Gatsby was 'passing'. Interesting thought.
I'm filing that next to "Nick Carraway is actually a gay man":

" 'Come to lunch some day,' he suggested, as we groaned down the elevator.
'Where?'
'Anywhere.'
'Keep your hands off the lever,' snapped the elevator boy.
'I beg your pardon,' said Mr McKee with dignity, 'I didn't know I was touching it.'
'All right,' I agreed, 'I'll be glad to.'
...I was standing beside his bed and he was sitting up between the sheets, clad in his underwear, with a great portfolio in his hands.
'Beauty and the Beast...Loneliness...Old Grocery Horse...Brook'n Bridge...'
Then I was lying half asleep in the lower level of the Pennsylvania Station, staring at the morning Tribune, and waiting for the four o'clock train."

You best not be angry, because that was my seventh grade required reading and I've analysed it multiple times since, in a variety of classes-just finished a paper on it about the sadomasochistic instinct behind big brother for my final thesis paper before jetting off to college. I wouldn't have even dreamed of underlying concepts like that way back when, I wasn't at the age to grasp them proper.
Although books in the end are a matter of personal taste, many of them are 'classics' for a reason in how accessible they are to younger folk. Great Gatsby isn't a verbose novel-doesn't mean it lacks depth, or heavy meaning.
It's all about the perspective you approach them from, is all.

part of the reason im so in love with these silly little skorts is that they use an obscene amount of fabric. they're cut in only two pieces, which are folded, and then folded from the front and back skirt panel into the short legs. it's incredibly wasteful, just the way luxury should be.

I don't particularly care if it's cliche-I'm a horrible procrastinator and I've been reading too much Freud so I just decided to write about Orwell from that perspective, and I found it to be really, really fun. I'm aware on how touched on it is, considering I had to use them as sources for my initial assertions.
Overdone or not, sex psychology and repressed everymen and paperweights are a joy to write about for me. As per according my peer reviewers, that came across, they genuinely enjoyed it and found my thoughts put forth original but grounded. I'm not claiming revolutionary new concepts, yknow. We all stand on the shoulders of giants.
I'd hate to retaliate and I know I'm shitposting, but seriously, chill out and ditch the high horse. There's a full-on muck of an originality debate you're stepping into and this is neither the time nor place for it.
