Finished my rough idea of what i'm booking in on Wednesday. Getting the compass at the top of my forearm and the text running from the wrist up to the compass. Obviously there's going to be more shading added in, the colouring was just to give the tattooist an idea to work with.

I like the idea of a functional tattoo. My only issue is I can't think of anything relevant enough to be permanently tattooed on myself, maybe when I choose my career I'll find something like that. Potentially going into medicine so I always thought it would be cool to get all your bones labeled but that would be more weird than actually necessary or functional.

If there was a thing you had to consult constantly in whatever line of work you are in I think a stylized version of it might be cool and useful. But I think the concept itself may be flawed in that there is nothing that really fits this bill that you wouldn't just memorize in a short time period.

although, people in a lot of professions use checklists frequently. the reasoning behind it is that the human mind eventually will forget shit once in a while so if it's critical you should use a checklist (if you're interested in that, read the book).

so there's definitely stuff where it's not an issue of just memorizing it. I'm not saying get a 737 checklist tattooed on your arm if you're a jet pilot, just that there's definitely possibilities out there.
