I've seen this argued before in a thread.

A guy basically said that men should be rated on a different scale of attractiveness than women, because they are more limited in hiding flaws in their appearance, and an attractive man was always more legitimate than an attractive woman because there is no speculation as to make-up and whatnot.

It's hard to decide though because there are very gorgeous women who could be well appreciated without make-up.
