2+ years ago I bought a 5000U to replace my 5600 from 2009 which died after nearly 10 years of daily infantry shit.

I've really loved the 500U so far, I use it every day in forestry and it has a few marks and scuffs on it but no actual damage. Feels quality.

anyone else dislike most/all of the f91w lookalike watches casio puts out?
IMO they all missed the point by enlarging it to meet current fashion trends: its a sports watch. its supposed to be small. if you can't do a pushup wearing it without it bumping up against your wrist its not a real sports watch.

The sensor isn't uncomfortable, unless you are securing the watch very tightly (e.g. to the point where the straps are leaving a very deep mark on your wrist). The only issue I've had with fit was some irritation on my skin if I wear the watch 24/7 for 3+ months, but that happens with every silicon strap.

I got it on sale for $200 so I don't think it was expensive, some of the guys ITT are paying $3,000+ for "special edition" models or $200+ for regular ones.

No. I gave away the white one. The GWF-D1000 Frogman is the epitome of G-Shock and looks sublime. The GMW-B5000TB is one of the most subtle and beautiful square designs, it's even in the OP. The basic squares are great for mixing and matching modules, bezels, and straps to make unique creations. It keeps things fresh and fun.

>> No.18144658

>>18144365
Depends on the features you need. Look at the tiers of squares for example:
>DW-5600UE
basic
>G-5600UE
solar
>GW-M5610U
solar, atomic
>GW-B5600
solar, atomic, bluetooth
>DW-5000 anniversary
basic, metal case
>GW-5000
solar, atomic, metal case
>GMW-B5000
solar, atomic, bluetooth, STN display, metal case, band, and bezel
>GMW-B5000 titanium
solar, atomic, bluetooth, STN display, sapphire crystal, DLC coating, titanium case, band, and bezel
>MRG-B5000
solar, atomic, bluetooth, STN display, sapphire crystal, DLC coating, high grade titanium case, band and bezel, all hand polished

They are all overpriced because it's a niche product with no alternatives. Remember to never pay retail. I wanted a sapphire crystal so I overpaid for the titanium model. The MRG is diminishing returns for me because hand polishing isn't worth it for me but I might be tempted if I find a good deal or if they release a style that I like.

You can't go wrong with a GW-5000U. Personally I don't like the module so if I want a metal case with resin band and bezel I go for one of the anniversary DW-5000 squares which have the basic module. The Rangeman is a great watch but it's big and you wont be using all those extra features. If you think you will be genuinely using the barometer, compass, and thermometer then it's worth considering. I use the compass and thermometer once or twice a year on my frogman and purely as a gimmick. The GW-5000U will be a more versatile and you can new band and bezels for it to change the look of it. For 260 eurobucks, if I couldn't save up for a GMW-B5000, I would buy a DW-5000SS and a DW-5600U and swap the module and bands/bezel, or get a GW-B5600CD, if I didn't want to fuzz. I like the module in the watches I mentioned better but you will be happy with the GW-5000U. Don't stress.

STN is only available on the metal squares, they are over $500 or about $350 used. Sapphire is only available on the titanium squares, they are over $1500 or around $1000 used. Yes it's a scam, yes I fell for it, yes I would do it again, and again. They should have a $400 sapphire+STN screw down square with resin band/bezel and one in titanium for $600 but they wont because of market segmentation.

The last non-MRG titanium square was released over a year ago. They haven't been a hit since the original and the TVA. Wisely they are slowing down releases. Maybe they are trying to come out with something really good. I'm still waiting for an MRG that suits my taste. If they get desperate enough they might release what everyone actually wants which is a bare, uncoated titanium non-MRG model. Maybe even a regular model that's not limited edition like all the previous ones.

It's very tempting at that price. I would have gotten it if it was DLC instead of IP but honestly I'm over DLC right now. The most tempting model for me is the silver MRG, you can get it cheap used. The only thing that ruins it for me is the brick pattern. I just have enough brick models.

Only the silver one, I would have gotten the MRG-B5000R if I didn't already have the GMW-B5000TB which has the same colors.

This guy. I've never owned a watch before, but when I walked past a store with this guy in its front window I couldn't help myself. Yeah, the digital clock arms are completely unnecessary, but that's what makes it cool

Is it okay for me to wear a Baby-G Shock if I have a 16cm wrist?

>> No.18157608

G shock squares aren't very big, it's just the chunky bezel that gives that impression. Consider going to a shop to try some on.

Yes. You can also look into the GMD-S5600 series, a lot of models have an "S" for small: GLX-S5600, GMS-S5600, etc.. I have smaller wrists and I wear digital G-Shocks of any size. Analog watches are the ones that are ruined when they are too large. Digital watches just become sci-fi toys when they are oversized and I like the aesthetic.

I like it. I have had several of the main design G Shocks on this board. Rocking Analogues presently.

Probably the only way to find out would be watch a test review short of buying one and getting a laboratory of course.
