An older Santos Octagon in two tone. I bought it many years ago. It was my first Cartier and I just bought the one I could afford. I sold it because I never really liked it and honestly just bought it because of the name.

The other Cartier was a new Santos in stainless. If I didn't have other watches, I would have been very happy with the Santos, but as it was, it was a neither-nor: a sports watch that wasn't as sporty as other watches I had, and a dress watch that wasn't as dressy as other watches I already had.
It was/is a great watch that just didn't have a place in my rotation.

Luckily, Cartier Santos are always popular so I was able to sell them for what I paid.

I hesitate to say datejust only because they tend to be much more dressy and polished and colorful. Explorer dresses up well, too, but they're much more brushed and rugged and easy to read and wouldn't be out of place as proper field and working watches. They legitimately make sense for just about anything. Maybe not so mich explorer 2,bur definitely the original explorer.

>..so like i was saying, some guys love mechanicals, others love quartz. but me? i love the tunning fork. the fork has a frequency of 360 oscillations per second, the fork is controlled by a transistorized circuit in the following way: when the left magnet on the tuning fork moves to the right, the phase-sensing coil generates an induction voltage on the base of the transistor. The transistor “switches on”, becomes a conductor instead of a resistor and the electrical current is able to start flowing through the right circuit. The drive-coil becomes a magnet and gives an impulse to the permanent magnet. The movement of the permanent magnet in the driving-coil also causes an induction voltage opposing the power cell voltage. The result is a very small electric current and a prolonged battery life. The problem of turning the linear motion of the fork into a circular motion of the hands is solved in the following way: the index jewel is connected to the fork and pushes the ratchet wheel one tooth forward, the pawl jewel is fixed to the watch frame and prevents the ratchet wheel from revolving backwards. The ratchet wheel was an outstanding technical achievement: 2.4 mm in diameter, 0.04 mm thick and 300 teeth, each 1/100 mm high. In one year, it revolves 38 million times. Another technical hallmark was the implementation of the coils: the driving coil has 8,000 turns made of wire with a diameter of 0.015 mm and an incredible length of about 90 meters.

Is there anything you all would recommend that's 'between' an F-91W and a basic G-shock? I like how slim and light the F-91W is, but I've gone through three of the plastic bands. I know G-shocks are a lot tougher, but they're also much larger and heavier (in this case 21g vs 51g and 8.5mm thick vs 12.7mm.) I first came to appreciate the F-91w after switching to it from a G-shock Riseman which was even larger than picrel (60g, 16mm.) Not sure if I should go for the smaller G-shock or one of their other models.

I still want something black, so that rules out their metal-banded options that are silver and gold.

It was cheaper to buy a new watch at the time and still is since I wouldn't want another shitty nylon strap or NATO gay band and dressing it up to actual leather is retarded.

The add-on macro cameras aren't needed anymore. They were an improvement maybe 5 years ago but right now, especially the higher end phones, got a better macro camera than the add ons, that's why there aren't any at a logical price point. They're all cheap af because they don't do anything. I would recommend using flash.

How exactly does the atomic clock radio signal work and get propagated? Soes it periodically go down sometimes? Do they have repeater stations spread out over the continents that can periodically go down? The reason I ask i I have an atomic radio control clock I use to set my watches by and a couple times in the last few weeks I've noticed it couldn't receive an update either automatically or manually. Then eventually it just sorted itself out and started receiving signals again.

It's sad that I love every single aspect of this product except for the product. The concept is so great, using reclaimed sea plastic to promote conservation and using the slugs for awareness and all that stuff is cheffs kiss, but putting unserviceable plastic movements in them means they'll break after a few years so they're both not reliable and also will go back into a landfill or ocean and defeat the entire purpose of the conservation angle. If they just put serviceable movements in them they would be so much better.

It's not about collabs, it's the Sistem51 movements that has riveted bridges. It can't be disassembled then reassembled, the only thing you can do is replace the whole movement. Which then poses the question of stocks, since the Sistem movements are usually all painted in different patterns depending on the watch so how long until they decide X series is over and until stock runs out?
Sure, that problem exists in general but there can be workarounds if a given piece is hard to get but here, you're forever dependent on Swatch keeping the Sistem 51 production going and not upgrading or updating anything and keeping your specific model in production.

PREFACE: This poem, is a dream of a universe. A universe where only Jaeger-Lecoutre, Rolex, Patek, Vacheron Constantin, Breguet, and IWC exist. A holy realm, consisting only of the SACRED SIX.

THE SACRED SIX is a communion of the finest, best watches for all humankind. No lesser beings can acquire, or even dream of obtaining such watches. Watches like Seiko, Casio, Timex, and Orient are a completely foreign concept to THE SACRED SIX, and are heretical watches. The SACRED SIX will purge such disgusting heretical watches from the universe, and bring about a better time.

Walk with me, let's try to imagine a better world, a better life, with the SACRED SIX.

Begin Poetry:

In the realm where time is king, behold the Sacred Six,

Masters of horology, their craftsmanship we fix.

Jaeger Lecoutre, with precision, ticks each fleeting hour,

In its intricate dance, a testament to power.

Rolex, a legend, on adventurous wrists it gleams,

Through tempests and triumphs, it fulfills dreams.

Patek Philippe, a tale of heritage and grace,

A legacy of elegance, in every watch face.

Vacheron Constantin, whispers of refined taste,

Centuries of excellence, never to be displaced.

Breguet, with innovation, its legacy unfurls,

In each tick, echoes the genius of its pearls.

IWC, with engineering prowess, takes its stand,

Crafting timepieces that echo across the land.

The Sacred Six, guardians of time's fleeting flight,

In each intricate tick, they weave pure delight.

In their hands, time becomes a cherished art,

Boundless tales woven in each beating heart.

The Sacred Six, immortal in their horologic dance,

A symphony of time, in eternal romance.

I've been into watches for a solid 6 months now
I have 0 idea why anyone would buy a tudor

its hands are ugly as sin, dial is huge and looks like a kids watch, and its 20% cheaper than Omega or Rolex, and Longines has been making a mighty comeback for half-75% of the price
I have genuinely no idea why anyone would buy a Tudor

One of the factories, I believe it's F11, just released a V2 of the Tank that is indistinguishable from the gen. It's also a quartz movement so there's no reason to pay for the real one. Automatic watches are a different story.

Whoretadello is a greek weeb that was married living in Nuremberg, Germany until he cheated on his wife and she shitcanned his greasy balding ass. He got deeply into watches and prostitutes to cope, even trying to legitimately date prostitutes thinking that somehow they could really love him. Posted photos of prostitutes modeling his watches. Also posted many wristshots of him in public places out with whores and people he knew, often without taking the time to block out their faces. Moved to Japan thinking doing so would allow him to escape from being a loser. So far it doesn't seem to be working.

One theory is that the faggot was dodging taxes while running his auto body shop business in Germany.

It’s likely that he could no longer keep the scam going because he’s not smart enough to run a racket, so he left Germany and is now in Japan.

That seems like a more realistic theory to me than the “he was sad because of his divorce so he went to the other side of the world to escape his pain”.

Also the fact that he’s supposedly into a jap girl that fast is another red flag. He likely is trying all he can do to not go back to the EU because they’ll get his ass one way or another.

He’s too soft to live in the 3rd world and wants to leech off another 1st world country.
