Ok I think it.s because your version has a mechanical battery, meaning the battery inside has a spring and some gears.
Yeah, I know.
It's a really cheap way to cut corners by using the same shitty leftover steel from making the case instead of sourcing high-quality chemical to make a real electric battery. And it's really shitty of your Swatch AD not to have told you he was selling you the inferior version. I'd say you should go back and ask to have the price difference between your cheap version and a genuine Moonswatch refunded.
The fact that Swatch is doing THIS instead of the USB-C charged Moonswatch fans have been asking for is baffling.

Also that whole "integrated stainless steel blue dial sports watch" trend has been overplayed. When brands like Tissot and Christopher Ward are joining the party you know it's time to leave.

Pointless is not the tachymeter per se, but the tachymetric bezel. You don't need to rotate the scale, so it can just be printed on the edge of the dial. The moonwatch is a retards watch.

I'm not gonna get much use out of the tachy bezel of course but it looks beautiful in conjunction with the dial and it is an integral part of the iconic design after all. I was hoping I could see the new white one but that one was sold out for a few months unfortunately.

How overblown is the consensus that if you wear an expensive watch to a major city you're going to get your wrist hacked off by thieves? I know when I go to a major city I'm almost always wearing a jacket with sleeves that cover my wrist when I'm walking around, so unless someone sits down at dinner with me when I take my jacket off I don't know bow anybody would even know ehat watch I'm wearing.

I don't understand people that buy ten different watches that all cost $100-500, especially when they're the same kind of watch (divers specficially), one nice watch that you really like is way better

Pretty much every mechanical chronograph under $10,000 is too thick and bulky

41mm is perfectly acceptable for a datejust and fills out the wrist better if you're not a total wristlet

Ceramic bezels don't look as good as aluminum ones

G shocks look bad

Some richard milles look cool

NATO straps look and feel bad

Daytonas should never ever ever have a leather strap

Unironic question. Met a girl yesterday at an Arcade, she's a friends friend so he invited her too. Anyway we started talking a bit. The casual stuff. She is quiet, a bit shy and has that bittersweet smile that's easy to fall in love with.
During the karaoke part, she picked, obviously, an anime song. And when she started singing, the rest of us (3 people at this point, most had left already because it was around 11:30PM) just looked at each other in amazement and awe, and that's where I, sadly, started to fall in love with her.
(One of the better amateur voices I've ever heard.)
On our way to the train, I was talking to my friend about Jesus, and she overheard the discussion and asked me, semi-excited, if I am Christian. I said, yes BUT- She said that she's Christian too. I asked her what kind of? Catholic, Orthodox--? She said she's going to a Baptist church. I guess Samaritan? And then we talked a bit about jesus and other religions. Maybe 10 minutes. She invited me today to go drink coffee and talk about bible verses at 3PM and later at 5PM go to the service together. I said yes, I'd love to.
Later my friend told me that she is "too healthy" for me and that we are not a good fit. We are too different and, the church to which I'm going today, her father is the Pastor. But it's been a very long time since I met an actually decent and nice girl. I guess I want to give it a shot. Very slowly and not forceful.
So my question, I got two watches, one with a white dial, stainless case and a stainless bracelet and the other with a black case, black dial and black leather-y strap. What do I wear to the meet and church today?

I appreciate the input guys. My parents wound up going with this one, pic related (Seiko 525). I like that the brand is viewed as reliable and that the crystal is sapphire so it should be a bit more resistant to scratches. I saw your post the other day but was too busy. Congrats Anon! Speedies are awesome, and absurdly reliable (though I've never owned a 3861 or any co-axial to date). Pic is my old 321; it has a step dial like yours!

>>18066384
That's an awesome rate!

>>18066522
I think Omega did a great job with the 3861s, though I will always have personal gripes about the design. The shortened lug length is better for the customer base (it'll look better on a larger variety of wrist sizes), the correction of the sub-second hashes is great, and the shortened pushers and slightly larger crown are great. While I like the step dial, I really do wish they brought back the long hour indices; it makes the dial look less squat. I'm not a fan of the SpeedmasterProfessional alignment in a straight style vs. the old pyramid style, and I think a ceramic bezel would have been ideal for the sapphire sandwich version while keeping an aluminium for the hesalite. The bracelet is comfy and looks great in both versions I think, and the new adjustable clasp is an excellent match. Admittedly, I've thought about getting one...I probably will if it makes it to the Moon again.

If you get one, post here and let us know how it performs.

They should come in soon; I think it's just the release squeeze. I see tonnes of gold/green Speedies now, even though for a while they couldn't be found. Same with the green Seamasters. I don't think the white dial will be as rare as a Snoopy or the Ed White....give it time.

I think it depends on how flashy you are and what area of town you're in. If you're a famous YouTuber who vlogs about expensive watches, you'll become even more of a target, so it's kind of a chicken-and-egg scenario. I've never had issues, but I don't flash my stuff around and to the average layman, my watches are not expensive or desirable in any way. If they were flashy, I'd have them under a sleeve, and I certainly wouldn't go into any rough areas wearing anything expensive. Anyway, no one wants Omegas....lol

You don't want to make her friends think she's gone crazy. Does that make sense? Her status is very important, especially in the church....hence, white birch.

>a trap
It could be, but sometimes the only thing to do is to 'spring the trap' and see what happens. It's not like you're going to a place that will put you in serious danger, and I'd guess you can 'take care of yourself' if anything went down.

Eternity is so much larger than us...we're just moments in the cosmos, milliseconds on a clock. If she shows interest in you, cool. If you like her, cool.

One thing though to be wary about: conservative Christians in particular may appear to be interested in a man but in reality are just being friendly in a Christian way. In other words, it's easy to misinterpret kindness for interest. In the world we live in, it's VERY easy to misinterpret this because so many people are the opposite: selfish or self-absorbed.

Also, the way you describe the first meeting...I'll be honest man, it is very similar to a 'friend' situation that church girls acquire. Going to church is definitely not a date...it's more of a 'sharing the Love of Jesus' kind of comradery.

If I were to dare to give advice, I'd say just be reserved and make God the first priority when you meet up with her. Then, if all goes well, ask her out on a date (i.e. be clear with her that you are asking her out as a potential mate, and not as a friend). Then you'll have your answer as to if she's interested in you as a friend or as something more.

Sadly, you must spell it out for her, because she may not think that her attention to you is anything except Christian Fellowship, and she may interpret your willingness to go to church with her as the same. If you're interested in her romantically, you'll have to declare that early, or else your time and money may be wasted.

Good luck, my friend, and may God go with you.

Yeah I'm old enough to know these things. And been living here for some time now to also know whenever it's kindness/politeness or actual interest. This time it feels like politeness, too. But you never know.

On the flip side, I've also encountered many Christian women who have herds of male (single) friends who do stuff for/with them, all hoping that eventually she'll choose one of them for a mate. Yeah, I've seen the effect at specialized vintage dealers in the big city.
Good thing about that particular fair is that it's held by an association of watchmakers with a focus not on vintage but on antiques, so you'll find a bunch of wtchmakers trying to move some inventory of 50s and 60s watches, prewar pocket watches in really good shape, all the clock formats you could want, instead of a circlejerk of overpriced hype models.

The prices for these were much, much lower than what you'd usually found online, hence these being the examples instead of the sneedmeisters sold for 500 bucks less than their average price on Chrono24.
That and stuff that probably won't mean much to the average poster here because who cares about pocket watches anymore, but if you wanted some still very clean enamel, some portrait watches and a few complication pocket watches, the prices were quite good.
Because the sellers were somewhat vetted by the nature of the event already, the usual price-hikers weren't here.
You just had to sift through the boring dress Longines and Omegas, the old Tissots nobody cares about and a bunch of defunct brands quartz killed for a good reason, that were put here by sellers to pad their booth space. But there were some great deals to be made. These kind of events can be really good if you know some models well enough to assess them and haggle a bit. Hence recommending these kind of events, you never know what you can get.
And not having to deal with the costs and worries of shipping is a relief too.

Nice. Very classic. It's effectively Blancpain's answer to the Datejust in terms of a one-watch collection type. Sub-10mm thickness and 100m of water resistance makes it suitable for daily wear. Swap it out for a nice leather strap and it's a fine dress watch. Personally, I prefer the black dial version but I realize that white dials are more characteristic of Blancpains.

The movement is the 1150. It's a classic workhorse. It's tough enough that they use it in the Fifty Fathoms. 100 hours of power reserve and still incredibly slim. It's sort of in-house. It's an F. Piguet design but, at the time it was developed, Blancpain owned Piguet and Blancpain has since completed absorbed it.
It's an older design so it's non-hacking and beats at 3Hz, which may trigger some people's autism (but if you know how to do a watchmaker's hack, you actually can stop this movement.) What I notice is that the dial has tick marks for 1/5th of a second but the movement is only capable of measuring 1/3rd of a second. Since it's not a chronograph, though, it doesn't matter.

If you can get it for a good price, go for it.

Sorry to interrupt the blogposting. Please don't report me for actually posting about watches.

I'm not sure where they came up with a 21.5mm lug width, except to make it impossible to find aftermarket straps. (You'll need to buy a replacement Tropic from them at 250 dollars instead of paying 30 dollars for a Tropic strap anywhere else.)
They still have that fucking 4:30 date.
It's 14.2mm (FOURTEEN POINT TWO!!) thick. For reference, that's the thickness of the first gen Planet Ocean, a watch that was criticized for being too thick (and to which Swatch responded...make it thicker!)

What I really don't understand about the thickness is that Blancpain also makes the thinnest automatic 300m diver available: the 10.7mm thick 38mm Fifty Fathoms.

I'm sorry but having the Fifty Fathoms have any WR beyond 50 fathoms is fucking retarded.
