Tested pic related for the third time yesterday and it finally clicked but I don‘t want to dish out the cash for some garbonzo langevity.

Heard that Malibù - Party In The Bay is a good alternative with better sillage and longevity, but it‘s almost in a similar price range and I generally hate blind buying stuff.

See it's a double entendre because she is recommending dark and seductive fragrances, but she is also dark and seductive. While Jeremy Fragrance, the number one Fragrance YouTuber, is clearly our guy and the King of this general, Willow ought to be our Queen, or at least Duchess. You are like the definition of the Dunning-Krueger effect. Everything you say in this thread is so fucking retarded. You're honestly sitting here pretending the scent of Drakkar Noir is the same as it was in the 80s. You think this because you know nothing. Fucking NOTHING! The hardest thing about talking fragrance with people is getting them to understand that fragrance notes suggested by the brand is not a list of ingredients rosemary doesn't mean it has some synthetic rosemary in it apple doesn't mean it has some specific apple aroma molecule in it.

It's polarizing in the sense that some people are going to smell it and say "why would you pay $300 for this". But it's not really the kind of thing that is going to make half the people you encounter vomit and shit themselves like Kouros or Habit Rouge

it's totally dependent on the perfume itself. some will project a lot, while others won't.
if you're worried about it, you can go the safe route and do 2 sprays, one one each side of the neck. i also usually do one spray on top of my hand so i can check the projection.
beyond that, you can do a spray on the back of your neck, on the front, on your shoulders, etc. it's a matter of personal preference at that point

Depends both on culture and fragrances used. Let’s say that you live in a country where people often use strong fragrances - go wild, but because I live in a country where most people don’t use fragrances on daily basis, I’m careful and use 1-3 sprays. 1 for those rare hyper-performers, 2 for regular performers and 3 for weak-ish ones.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the way other people use the term, but I view it as an attempt to cultivate an artificial perception of prestige by having high price points and sometimes trying also create storied artisanal heritage for the company. I view it as trying as trying to get short cut to a brand perception similar to Guerlain.

It means something that is cheaper than actual luxury products but is supposed to have a similar kind of aura. >>18065914 is partly right, as houses trying to brand themselves as more prestigious than they actually are is one way to do that.

But the constant spamming of ”masstige” here in form of one word comments is literally thread cancer, because nothing says that ”masstige” products are always inherently bad.

>> No.18065921

per wikipedia
>Masstige is a marketing term meaning downward brand extension. The word is a portmanteau of the words mass and prestige and has been described as "prestige for the masses".
>The term was popularized by Michael Silverstein and Neil Fiske in their book Trading Up and Harvard Business Review article "Luxury for the Masses".
>Masstige products are defined as "premium but attainable", and there are two key tenets: (1) They are considered luxury or premium products and (2) They have price points that fill the gap between mid-market and super premium.
It's not really a term that easily applies to perfumery because, generally speaking, even luxury brands are attainable to most people. Even brands like Creed who everyone pretty much agrees are ridiculously overpriced for what they are are relatively attainable to anyone with a minimum wage job. The term works better with vehicles or clothing, where the truly prestigious brands are completely out of reach for all but the wealthy.

>Masstige is a marketing term meaning downward brand extension
This is the important bit. It's refers to when traditional luxury brands release a more affordable option. Like the BMW 1 series. And it's priced somewhere between mass market and luxury. Creed and Parfums de Marly are just luxury brands. The reason people misuse the term to describe them are because they are generally more mass appealing than many other niche brands. But even that's not actually true anymore given that most niche houses are restructuring everything to be more like Creed these days. As it turns out, releasing an $600 bottle of perfume that smells like cat piss and aged semen isn't really a winning marketing strategy. Drakkar Noir is the Sauvage of it's time. I don't think it smells BAD, it's extremely dated for sure, but it's reputation was for being a loud fuckboy style scent that people loved to overspray. But it was extremely popular. Everybody wore it. Like Sauvage, it was a victim of it's own success. People liked to TOO much.

i really enjoy the dry down of ADP colonia essenza, but can't stand the sharp citrusy opening. reminds me of a toilet cleaner or something. i also really enjoy the scent of the aftershave i use (picrel). its very minty, with a little sandalwood at the base. any recs that combine the minty, soapy, sandalwood-y aspects of the two?

had a weird perfume-related dream today
in this dream, I found a small local store with an interesting selection. I tested some stuff and left, but when I came home I realised I swiped a tester of Eau Sauvage EDC by mistake. the perfume salesman called me and was very mad, said I had to return it

next day I went to return the tester alongside a friend, but the salespeople insisted we had to follow them into a back room to do it. they locked the door behind us, pulled out guns and wanted to kill us for the crime of swiping a tester

somehow I managed to knock one of them out, take his revolver and shoot the others. in the end we walked out the store. while waiting for police to arrive, I realised that the real store was a bit further on and the place we had walked into was some drug den inside an abandoned children's playroom

Pour Un Homme de Caron Parfum
Pour Un Homme de Caron EdT
Pour Un Homme de Caron Soir

All of them are HEAVY lavender+vanilla and last all day. The Parfum has a softer approach on the vanilla. the EdT is a bomb. the Soir has added amber. They original was created in 1932 and has been a beast for almost 100 years. All of them are squarely for men only.
