I am entirely new to frag. Decided to buy the universally "hated" Chanel because it is apparently the best blind buy — not that I bought it absolutely blind — I tried it from a tester at my local retail. Although I think it was perfume or EDP.
To top it off, I bought it from some guy online offering it for 1/2 the price.
Now I am torn because at first, the smell feels really weak. Like I have to put my nose quite close to my hand to even smell it. I have read that some people can barely smell their own frag while they are suffocating others with the smell.
Also, the smell nearly dissipated afted 2,5 hours. Which seems short even for EDT.

Not him, and not talking about Kouros, but usually I’d just use test strips to figure out what to test, spray the best candidate to my hand or wrist, and then just leave the store to see how it develops in the following hours. It’s rare to see complete revolutions after 2 hours, even one hour usually gives a very good idea, but 10-15 min isn’t enough to figure out anything about the drydown unless it’s some ultra linear fragrance.

Cecrat Boise doesn't have any smoke. Birch tar is what gives Aventus it's smoky quality. There is no birch in CB. Are you talking about Cedrat Boise intense? There's no birch in that either, but I don't own it so maybe it's smoky.

That being said, I prefer CB to Aventus. It's the best performing citrus fragrance I have ever owned. The longevity is fucking retarded good on that one.
