I don't even dislike him. I often agree with his takes. I know the names of channels and fragtubers I watch less than him. For some reason he's just bad at branding.

It's well studied. You value things you paid more for. If you're telling me you don't remember if you paid more for your bottle of Nautica or Tobacco Vanille (just the first expensive fragrance that came to mind, I don't care if you have it or not) I don't think I believe you.

Hey, penis breath. Do you know what the word expensive means? What does being "non-descript" have to do with the price? A 3.4 oz bottle of Tobacco Vanille retails for $445 dollars. Maybe you're independently wealthy (I doubt it strongly, but maybe), but even if that is the case it doesn't make a titty-licking difference because you can buy 4 separate designer fragrances at full retail for the cost of one full sized bottle Tobacco Vanille. It doesn't matter if you're Elon Musk or some piss soaked hobo outside of Macy's, Tobacco Vanille is expensive relative to the vast majority of fragrances on the market and you know this.

Literal pants-shitting retard shit in this thread tonight, Jesus fuck.

You can give some of the fragrances you don't particularly love away. If you have younger male relatives they might be really happy to get a fancy fragrance even if not brand new. Also just talk to a few of your friends and ask them if they are interested in any fragrances. Personally I don't think 12 bottles is excessive. And it gives you options on being able to wear a scent everyday. And honestly you aren't going to want to wear each scent everyday or in all situations, or all seasons.

Yes, technically there are summery Oud fragrances, but by its nature Oud is a very rich and heavy note. In my experience, when it comes to the hot-weather "oud" fragrances, you either don't detect any oud at all, or it sticks out like a sore thumb and comes across as off-putting. It's not really something that mixes well with the light/effervescent notes that make up stereotypical summer compositions. It's like topping a snow cone with thick sausage gravy.

Also, oud is a bit of a meme. Some of my favorite fragrances use it prominently, but it's like ambergris in the sense that it's known to be scarce and ungodly expensive, and slapping the word "oud" on the bottle is a good way to make an otherwise unremarkable fragrance sound luxurious. There might be a really fantastic summer oud out there that I'm unfamiliar with, but it's not something I'd actively search out when looking for a fresh summer fragrance.

What I don't understand is if all these clone houses can make something that smells 95% similar to Aventus with better longevity and the meme smokiness Creed fanboys jizz themselves over and sell it for less than a hundred dollars, why doesn't Creed just clone the clones and keep selling it for $500? It would probably increase their profit margin by a stupid amount. Worst that can happen is people start complaining that it smells a little different than it used to, but they already do that anyway.

Did no one tell Black Rock they could do this? It seems like a really obvious strategy that has no downside whatsoever. If people say it smells different, just lie and say no it doesn't. If they ask what happened to the pineapple, say people who had covid can't smell pineapples.

Most people hear what he is saying and recognizing that what he is saying is very weird and odd. But it isn't the ideas themselves but rather that he is publicly expresses them. If other people had those or similar ideas they would keep them private. I suspect that he in part was so successful in youtube because he would just do things largely unscripted and not impose filters on what he was saying. When this coincides with getting millions of followers and I presume he has earned millions of dollars from YouTube, that is a lot of positive feedback for him to reinforce in him the soundness of the strategy of expressing all his thoughts with little to no filter. I have no formal training but it is my understanding that people with a diagnosed mania typically also have long bouts of depression. The fact that he has so frequently and consistently posted stuff makes me think it isn't a mental problem but just a very energized and enthused person.

Different atomizers put out different amounts. There's really no way to standardize it across all fragrances, but 8-15 sprays would be a decent rule of thumb if 8 represents the old Creed atomizers that sprayed a quarter of the fucking bottle each spray and 15 represents a cheap lipstick atomizer you can pick up at Sephora. Most bottles are likely going to fall somewhere in between those two extremes.

so i was thinking of picking up samples and i'm a noob. i was curious if i should get an EdT or EdP or just straight up Parfum. From what I gather they are more diluted and work their way up to the most intense parfum strength. is it possible to just get parfum and use less of it? or get a weaker EdP and spray more of it? any guidance about this?

>> No.18061824

>>18061820
depends on the fragrance, some edts project and last longer than their edp or parfum counterparts. Some are the other way around.
They do smell different from their counterparts.
Personally I wouldnt be so concerned with what it its. If you are starting out it sounds important, but if the scent smells good and it lasts, it doesnt matter what tag it gets.

>> No.18061827

>>18061820
> i was curious if i should get an EdT or EdP or just straight up Parfum.
Can't really make a recommendation based on this alone. Generally with modern fragrance lines, these aren't just higher concentrations, they're different compositions. For example, Dior Sauvage edt and edp smell pretty similar to one another, but they have subtly different note breakdowns. Sauvage Parfum is an altogether different scent profile, and shares only marginal similarities with the other two. Elixir is another flanker which smells completely different than the other three.

But to answer the question as it was posed, the basic rule is that EDT concentrations will project a bit more due to the higher alcohol concentration, but last a bit less due to lesser perfume concentration. EDP will last a bit longer (and people generally say it smells smoother, but it really depends on the composition of the fragrance) but the scent will be slightly closer to the skin. And it continues that way all the way up to extrait concentrations.

But again, that's only relevant if we're talking about fragrances with the exact same formula, and it's exceedingly rare (I honestly can't think of one off the top of my head) to find a line of fragrances in EDC, EDT, EDP, Parfum, and Extrait de Parfum concentrations that have identical compositions just in different concentrations.

But if, for example, you're thinking that every EDP is going to last longer than every EDT regardless of the brand, that's not the case. Dior Sauvage EDT will mop the floor with Dolce & Gabbana The One EDP in terms of both projection and staying power because they are radically different compositions

>> No.18061832

>they do smell different

>different compositions
shit. i just figured it'd be varying intensity overall, not actual different smells.
>project
maybe it's just me, but i'm not interested in projecting and smelling up the entire room (or a part of it). i guess my 'goal' is for basically just me and the person sitting next to me to notice the frag. but i'm new, maybe that'll change?
i guess i'll start with a sample of the parfum and if i really like it or at least like the combination of notes, maybe try the EdP or EdT and compare and go from there?
thanks for the replies, anons.

>> No.18061835

When people talk about good projection they usually mean if someone passes nearby you say within 2-3 feet they can notice the smell. There is another term called sillage (pronounced See-Yahj) which I think literally translates into wake, like wake of a ship. It refers to whether a fragrance can leave a bit of a scent trail as you move. So a Fragrance that has a good sillage, if someone is walking a bit behind you, say 10 feet they will be able to get whiffs of your fragrance. People care about different things, but imo what you should look at is scent>>>Longevity>>>>Projection

>> No.18061838

>>18061832
It is also worth noting that fragrances smell different the longer they have been on you. A fragrance you just sprayed on you will smell different than that same fragrance a half hour later, which will smell different than that same fragrance 2 hours later. When people talk about how a fragrance smells a bit after you spray it they will sometimes refer to that as how it smells in the drydown. Frequently when people talk about the different individual scents or notes that make up a particular fragrance they will divide it into top notes, middle notes, and base notes. The longer you have a fragrance on your skin frequently the more of the top notes and even some of the middle notes will dissipate or weaken. So it can really help to see how a fragrance smells at different times after application.

Honestly, the best thing to do when you're just starting out is to go into Macy's/Sephora and sample some stuff and see what you like. If you're new and just want to smell nice and not choke anybody out, some very basic recommendations would be
>Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue
Very light and pleasant warm weather fragrance that's characterized by citruses. Unlike many of the modern fresh fragrances for men, it's not an ambroxan bomb and it's not at all overpowering. It's longevity isn't the greatest in the world, but it can also be found at just about every discounter for cheap, so if you need to reapply at some point in the day it's not going to bankrupt you
>D&G The One
Both the EDT and EDP concentrations fit the bill for what you're looking for. This one is a sweeter tobacco fragrance and is usually thought of as a cool weather/date night style fragrance, but it's very soft and light and will work as a casual/office scent as well because it's not going fill the room. I've also never met anyone who disliked the way this smells. It was one of my first fragrances, and although I have a fairly extensive collection, it's still one of my favorite smells. It gets shit on for it's lack of performance, but it's just really pleasant.
>Prada L'Homme
this one is pretty much the definition of non-offensive work scents. It's got a fresh laundry vibe. It's basic, but most people seem to enjoy it.
>Pretty much anything from the Guerlain L'Homme ideal line
These are somewhat sweet scents that utilize almond. There's a bunch of them and they can usually be found for cheap on Amazon or any of the reputable online discounters. They're more expressive than anything I've listed so far, but most of them are soft and sit close to the skin. I personally like the EDP which is a cherry/incense fragrance
>Prada Luna Rossa Carbon
Throwing this one in there because it has the popular Sauvage DNA but is way more reserved and wearable in casual settings
