Obvious one,Seiko 62mas reissues- Aliexpress homages. I have the San Martin one, has Sellita movement and works really fine,newr cosc accuracy, the finishing is very decent except that the bezel is a bit sharp. I have to trst it but I'm under the impression that the chinkwatch has better lume than my new BB58,although I can see better the Tudor because the indices shapes are more distinctive and the snowflake hand is bigger with more lume than the 62mas.one.

It's okay to be retarded. Basically the short hand is the hour hand, and depending on where it's pointing it tells you which hour of the day it is (1-12). The long hand is the minute hand, and it tells you the minutes past a certain hour. With a full turn it records 60 minutes. So, given that the dial is divided in 12 indices, each interval between two consecutive numbers is 5 minutes (5x12=60).

To make the reading easy, you should be able to remember the correspondence between each hour marker and the past minutes on the minute scale:

1 = 05
2 = 10
3 = 15
4 = 20
5 = 25
6 = 30
7 = 35
8 = 40
9 = 45
10 = 50
11 = 55
12 = 0 (60)

If you look at pic related, it's 1:36.

Bb58 anon here,yes,I like how they look,the overall feel is that the watch has less colour than what you see in high quality reviews,colours are closer to light bronze than to gold, close to champagne,the watch does not feel shiny,unless younget the right angle and the light hits the hands and of course,the polished sides. It is a very "under the radar" watch and I bought knowing that as I don't like shiny stuff. The contrast,no, I don't think there is a really high contrast.

>>18003114
Bought it because the size is really nice,37mm dial+bezel,46-47mm lug to lug,20mm strap size. In terms of sizing is the closest to the original 62MAS,more even than the reissues that have bloated proportions. Not a fake,an homage choose it with San martin logo,and for less than 400€ got a similar watch to the ones that seiko is selling for 4500€, and it runs at +4-5spd. Bezel is a bit thick,would have liked something thinner,but the watch itself is very decent

When they're assembled at the factory, the chapter ring is not actually glued down or attached in any other way. It just sits there, held in place by the bezel ring. It's possible you could have knocked it.

There are a lot of iffy circumstances like that which make the whole idea of in house calibers kind of silly and pointless. For every company that actually makes bespoke movements down to the individual component there are probably 6 companies that either source movements from one of the handful of big swiss or Japanese third party movement makers and "modify" the movements (those mods could be as little as simply decorating the movement) and/or they are playing a game of "well, this company owns that company so maybe technically you could argue that the movements between them are in house?????"

I love the idea of affordable watches to bring watches to the people, bit what they say about shitter collecting really is true - the difference in feeling and enjoyment you get from high end watches is vast and if you're buying a dozen or two shitters the money you spent in the end probably could have gotten you maybe 2 or 3 really fucking nice watches you wouldn't mind wearing all the time and still have lots of trouble picking which one you want to wear.

I've done both shitter-hoarding and high-end collecting. They are both fun but in their own ways.

Shitter-hoarding was a constant rush. You get a new watch every month, for the flimsiest of reasons like "I need a green dial watch to pair with this necktie."
High-end collecting was more of an exercise in patience. There's a lot less, "eh, good enough". If a watch isn't perfect, you don't buy it. You spend a lot more time researching pieces, which can be fun.

Ultimately, I gave both up and ended up liquidating my collection. I kept a pair of watches, casual and formal. The two that I liked best and wore most. I still love watches, reading about and talking about them, but anything I buy from here on in will have to be extremely special.

This is what makes buying expensive watches when I don't have a ton of money to spend kind of tricky. I'd like to buy a speedmaster, and I'd like to buy it brand new so that it's really mine in a way, but that's 8k and that's almost a rolex.
