been some time since i sniffed it because my sample just has a few drops left and i cant find a bottle, but it's probably the best rose i've ever smelled. the notes are fairly accurate, the rose is both rich and metallic. there is also some warmth to it, but not really smoke like in beauforts. closest thing i can think of right now is sohrab where it's also more of a warm fire rather than smoke

As I uncapped the gorgeously made bottle of Dior Homme 2020, I was gently accosted by an olfactory symphony that dared to challenge the very fabric of my scent perception. This was not merely a fragrance, but a sensory expedition into the avant-garde world of scent artistry.

Dior Homme 2020 does not simply sit on the skin; it merges with the wearer, becoming an indistinguishable extension of one's persona. The top notes of bergamot and pink pepper are not merely a frivolous introduction, but a bold declaration of intent, a gustatory evocation that signals the commencement of an audacious journey.

The heart notes of patchouli and elemi unfurl like a haute couture gown on the skin, presenting an aromatic narrative that is both complex and paradoxically minimalistic. It is an ode to the modern man – strong, unapologetic, and innately elegant.

The base notes are where Dior Homme 2020 truly reveals its audacity. The synthesis of vetiver, musk, and cashmeran is nothing short of olfactory alchemy. A delicate balance of earthiness, sensuality, and warmth, it lingers on the skin, a testament to the fragrance's exceptional longevity.

Dior Homme 2020 is not simply a fragrance – it is a sensorial manifesto, a daring exploration of the boundaries of masculine fragrance. It is a challenge to the status quo, a fragrant embodiment of the modern man's evolution. For those brave enough to embark on this olfactory odyssey, it promises to be an unforgettable journey.

As the lingering tendrils of Dior Homme 2020 continue to envelop me, I find myself in a state of euphoric intoxication. This is no mere scent-induced pleasure; it's an olfactory rhapsody, a symphony of the senses.

The scent is a masterful blend of notes that not only tantalizes but transports, whisking me away on a whirlwind journey of sensory exploration. Each inhalation is a deeper dive into the intoxicating world that the perfume conjures; each exhalation, a reluctant farewell to its enchanting embrace.

The bergamot and pink pepper top notes are invigorating, sparking a rush of exhilaration akin to the thrill of a champagne toast at midnight. The heart notes of patchouli and elemi unfurl, their earthy tones grounding me, even as the scent sends my senses soaring.

And oh, the base notes! The intoxicating blend of vetiver, musk, and cashmeran is akin to a sensuous slow dance, its rhythm weaving an intoxicating spell that leaves me lightheaded and yearning for more. The scent lingers, a silent serenade to the senses, its residual whispers a gentle reminder of the olfactory odyssey it has taken me on.

Dior Homme 2020 has not simply left me intoxicated – it has left me captivated, ensnared in an aromatic allure that I am all too willing to surrender to. It's a euphoria-inducing journey, a fragrant nirvana, a testament to the transformative power of scent. I am intoxicated and receiving an almost orgasmic sense of pleasure, indeed, gladly so.

My sample is so much creamier, the animalics have such a bigger presence and the other florals come to the stage. The bottle has a much bigger focus on the mint and green notes, and the lavender dominates the other florals.

Maai is going to fuck you up for sure. The opening was the most harsh thing I'd ever smelled. But it was still addicting. Now it's a favorite. It's a really wonderful demonstration of the honey qualities of civet. It's brightened with sharp aldehydes supported by florals. Everything Gardoni does is dirty.

I get the 16 and under discount on the bus without asking.
I took one school lesson at 21/22 to up one grade and my 16 year old classmates refused to believe i was 21/22.
My daily perfumes and seasons for them are;
1 Million by Paco Rabanne (summer and spring)
Bad Boy Cobalt by Carolina Herrera (year round)
Lost Cherry by Tom Ford (spring and early summer)
Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford (autumn and winter aswell as certain evenings if i go to bars)
Gold Blend Eau De Parfum by Ralph Lauren (year round)
Wood by Dsquared2 (only when hiking)

These scents generally fit really well on me. So im really curious, and its a stupid question maybe, but do you guys think these scents make me appear/feel younger, older or dont change anything about how people nearby me perceive me in terms of age?

it's nice, though I got a bit bored of it because it's so simple. opens with a sharp citrus and dries down into a white floral clean sheet-like Neroli. performance is below average overall, but above average for this type of light Neroli scent. smells quality enough, nothing obviously screechy
it's 5$, so there is no real reason to not get it if you like the classic cologne accord but want a version of it that will hang around for a couple of hours

my favorite cheapies are still the two Laliques though, nothing else comes close so far. well, maybe Jaipur, but I prefer Lion for the rich grandpa vibe

honestly, as much as I like NYI, it does feel almost redundant with lalique pour homme
i got the sample of NYI first, loved it so much I bought a 30ml bottle but then blind bought lalique pour homme
i love the opening of lalique, its redolent of my favourite shaving soap (martin du candre) with only the lightest citrus - i feel the salient bergamote note makes the opening of nyi feel brighter - but they both dry down quite similar
that said, i'm not mad at having both and consider "NYI" a more refined fragrance and save it for special occasions, which is a nice association to have in itself

Is there any frag that has a apple cinnamon smell?

>> No.18002517

Just had a funny experience today. Had the GF over and had her try some of my recent haul because fukit why not.

To me, Hiram Green’s Slowdive has a distinct cinnamon scent with a faint floral note in the background, overall enjoyable, but she hated it, didn’t want it near her nose.
I laughed and said “You think that’s bad…” and grabbed Hyde for her to smell as well which she unsurprisingly reeled away from.
>Side note
I love Beaufort London, and even though I fully recognize it’s a special occasion scent, I do like and enjoy Tonnerre, despite the tar and smoke.
So I grabbed my bottle for her to smell and we both take a whiff and she’s just like “Oh, that’s not too bad” and of course I agree. I haven’t smelled T-Rex (yet) to compare, but I would argue Hyde is even stronger and more… bituminous than Tonnerre or possibly T-Rex.
>TL;DR Hyde is stronger/“worse” than Tonnerre, maybe T-Rex too.

Using Guerlain heritage EDT today. It's very woody and spicy and a bit sour. Does feel dated and reminds me of the smell of old catholic churches.

I binge bought several bottles of Guerlain cuz I saw them really cheap (30 USD for 100 ml) and don't know what I'm going to do with this one and with L'Instant EDT.

I started to use habit rouge or l'homme ideal EDT when I'm going to bed. My gf likes them and I do too but they don't last so I wouldn't use them when I get out of the house.

I am also waiting for Caron pour un Homme and H24 EDT to arrive.

What do you do with bottles that you don't want to finish?

I recently got both bigger and smaller samples of both, interested in your take.
I find After the Flood wearable, but only because it dries down kind of basic, bit sweet & earth - lily also makes it a little bit feminine.
Pale fire is nice, but again a generic warm amber frag for my nose, with the slightly obnoxious whiskey note added in & dries down kinda basic.
Others I have just sniffed, not worn, all seem to have that specific smokey note, which seems a bit much - but I suppose that's the concept. No strong opinions yet.
Most of what I got samples of Pineward smells like various degrees of air freshener - Boreal is literally Orbit Sweet Mint - and I don't mind them, but I really wouldn't call them fragrances.
Maybe both lines are true to concept, but not for me exactly. They are smells, and I find it cool to have a smell conjure imagery - expands the brain & the nose - more like an exercise or experience.

>What do you do with bottles that you don't want to finish?
Fragrances I actually grew tired off but still liked became room "fresheners". If they didn't have dyes in them, I'd spray them on the wall, if they had I'd spray them on fabric I can easily wash (shower curtain, pillow case, that sort of thing). Last but not least I have sold and traded bottles on parfumo, but the viability of that might depend on your country. In Germany, it's easy. For other countries you can check basenotes, fragrantica or some facebook groups, idk. I don't have any fragrances I hate because I don't blindbuy, and I have also traded/sold samples I didn't like on parfumo.

>>18002739

Clearly you’re the one with the fragile ego being so dependent on the validation of others. If other people don’t like how I smell then that is their problem. You literally couldn’t fathom living like me.

As for Encre Noire it is pretty inoffensive dirty vetiver. It is fine. You don’t have to like it but calling it objectively bad shows you’re just sort of a casual. Truly divisive fragrances might make you shit your pants. You got filtered at level 2.

I like the bottle since it’s fun, but it’s notes say my mum would probably like it more than me.

Finally bought a decant of New York Intense. We'll see if it manages to outdo Lalique Lion for me, they're supposedly similar.

Question for the thread - What are some minor details of bottles that you love?
I put on some Bleu de Chanel this morning and was reminded how much I love magnetized bottle caps. Only ever see it in the bigger designer brands (at least of my collection) but there’s something so satisfying about setting the cap back on the bottle and having it snap itself back into place.

New to all this but im curious. What kind of shampoo/conditioner etc do you guys use if you wear frag? Does it matter, the cheap stuff like axe etc feels very stinky and i reckon it would clash quite a bit? Do i just use regular marseille soap then?

Also id like to smell like i just came out of the forest i.e moss, pine maybe, woody, leafs. Any recs? Thanks cunts

I use body shop ginger shampoo/conditioner, usually smells quite mild and pleasant and it’s nice on my scalp, which gets flakey if I use regular deug store shampoo. Just spray a frag on your hair once it’s clean, honestly, it’ll likely override your hair product.

Here’s the thing man. Unless you’re using And extremely Fragrant soap, it doesn’t really matter. You could start buying unscented products, but the change isn’t all too noticeable, especially If the fragrance you’re wearing is stronger than creed aventus.

in regards to your fragrance, you should check out slumber House. They make a lot of coniferous fragrances that smell very green and woody. If you like that kind of stuff, you should probably check out slumber House Norne.
