Unironically, Haxan (Goat) smells absolutely incredible. It’s Iron Duke’s spring/summer sibling. If you’re familiar with the countryside the animalic/goat hair tincture in it have a proper note of livestock, like sheep or goat’s wool without smelling really poopy/pissy like animals do, though there’s definitely a hint from the castoreum and civet. The ‘outdoor’ notes are really fresh and pleasant, and the mushroom lends it a nice deep quality. It’s got a little resin and turns slightly herbal, like fresh crushed leaves (the rosemary comes through very clean) and more fresh wood. Really nice, I’ll be letting it develop more but it’s generally giving an authentic damp fresh spring countryside morning.

I personally love vegetal and herbal notes and it smells nostalgic since I grew up around animals, probably not for everybody. But definitely for me, I’ll likely be buying a bottle. Thanks for reading my blogpost

I mentioned that I bought the Tea and Cannabis packs from them a couple of threads ago.

Vi et Armis for me was like smelling my clothes after spending hours standing next to a bonfire.

And O, Unknown! starts powdery but quickly dries down to cardboard to my nose. But it also smells like some cheap biscuit I've eaten recently.

I really liked Russian Tea and Myrrhiad.

Thinking about purchasing a bottle of pic rel from the Cannabis pack as a summer fragrance. The Cannabis Rhubarb como is so bright and lovely.

Honestly I’ve never smelled the stuff, and unless I just happen to walk past a tester in a mall (which I oddly have not, yet) I’ll never bother sniffing it because I already know I’ll never be interested in something with such abysmal longevity.

Similar feelings towards anything Creed, and even Amouage, I know I’d never pay what they ask for a bottle, so I’m not even going to go down the rabbit hole of sampling them.

Can only comment on the the Hermann and LADDM.

LADDM as I’m sure you’re well aware of fantastic as long as you’re into that genre. Its reputation precedes it for good reason, not much else needs to be said.

Hermann, I don’t know if this is just me, but I’ve said it recently and I’ll say it again, ELDO got on a kick of adding rose to several fragrances, some Rose Oppor, others just “rose” but Hermann was the first, and 4 more followed. Of the 5, four of them smell like Vicks Vaporub.
Maybe Vicks is just intended to have a rose scent, but for me it’s a really weird association.

Unironically opium. For women, edp. Incense and spices. Current is nowhere near the nuclear power ppl claim to be. Not feminine in the least if that bothers you. Smells like middle east 1000 years ago, 1001 nights story type shit. Dunno if that's the Asian style you're after. Maybe try ambre sultan, to me smells like an Arabian desert at night. No Chang in these though.

Based. I've wearing Polo Green for years and Quorum lacks the amazing pine opening and the nice patchouly drydown.
Also based about Yatagan. I got a bottle this Christmas (after geting a 2ml tester) and it became my outdoor scent. Far superior quality, unique and not loud at all.
Since we have similar teastes, try Polo Cologne Intense (very underrated imo) or Eau de Minthe (Diptyque) if you can. Both are perfect not-sweet scents for warm weather.

Are you the retard who said you should only buy MFK, Tom Ford, and Creed? I’m not going to watch that video it seems really, really gay. To start out read the shit in OP.

A few (half decent) youtubers include The Scentinel, Persolaise, Wafts from the Loft, Justin Copeland, Urban Dweller, and MrSmelly1977. They all have really different tastes that are a bit outside the norm. Maybe you can find your own vibe.

But really you just need to order samples in bulk. Price means practically nothing. Brands inflate their price just to appear high quality. I have an absolutely enormous collection and there are multiple $30 or less fragrances that I consider personal masterpieces. I also have $250 frags I barely reach for.

>SOTD: MM Replica - Under the Lemon Trees
Very natural smelling lemon/lime with cardamom, fresh, light, intoxicating. The combination almost adds this fresh unburned charcoal accord which I like but could see being polarizing. Transitions into an airy green tea middle over a light cedar/musk base, keeps the top notes all the way through. Solid longevity for me.

I used the last of a 2ml sample today, kinda want to grab a 30nl at least for summer because I need something light, and most of what I have along the “freshie” lines I find too heavy for hottest weather (DH2020, DHS2021, BDC Parfum, bois imperial)

I'm coming to terms with the fact I just don't like most green frags, including the highly regarded. Smelled Yatagan in a store finally & really didn't enjoy it. Same goes for Bogue 20, got a sample - will try again, on skin. I think this is also why I didn't take to NYI - I think I just don't enjoy what's described as "aromatic".

So now that the dust has settled, what's the concensus on pic related? Do we like it? It's hard to find a review that doesn't seethe about it not being similar to the original. I don't give a fuck about the original. Is DH2020 a good fragrance?

>> No.17981992

>>17981975
It's a good fragrance, just not very exciting. Very inoffensive. I think that's part of what caused the seething, they replaced a unique and daring release that influenced its own genre (Givenchy Gentleman, Valentino Uomo and all the other men's gourmand iris copycats) with just another excercise in Iso E overdose with a bit of citrus.
It's like re-releasing Fahrenheit as a blue fragrance or something. Just weird.

I much prefer the Sport version, that one has more personality to it with the stronger lemon, incense and aldehydes. If they just started with that people would have complained less I think.

Thanks for a thoughtful reply man. I have a bottle coming my way, bought it cheap, so I can sell it without loss. Will write some thoughts next week.
I decided I don't really like original homme. Lipstick doesn't bother me but iris is a note that smells shapeless and mealy. Don't like it in Bois dArgent, don't like it in Bianchi, I just don't like it. Took me some time to get rid off my last bottle of Intense. Replaced it work Ambre Nuit and so far I'm happy with that decision. Dhs did seem nice. Kind of mineral and incensy.

you need to go to a store and sniff some fragrances or order samples. I feel like you don't really know what you want yet. there are many different interpretations of "spicy woody" and "typical cologne scent", some of which even overlap
my first instinct is that if you want a more naturalistic woody earthy scent you should try some vetivers. terre d'hermes, guerlain vetiver, grey vetiver, encre noire and the like. won't hurt to sniff random stuff at the Hermes and Guerlain counters too, they tend to make perfumes that don't smell generic

I’ve never even attempted it on skin, but on (toilet)paper I got a bit of… either garlic or onion up front (I don’t recall which), and then something bad afterwards that I couldn’t even begin to place.
It wasn’t straight vomit inducing for me, but it was definitely bad, and *did* tickle my gag reflex a little.
If I was forced to take a few deep whiffs over a solid ~30 seconds, it might be enough to make me puke.

Fahrenheit is more like an old, well-loved car sitting in the garage. there is a fresh ozonic-floral air freshener hanging around in the car and it is surrounded by the smell of gasoline from the garage. the owner is a middle-aged hairy macho guy who practically lives in the garage

Ombre Leather is a brand new car, seats still smelling intensely with that new car smell. there is a bit of sweet amber and jasmine left on the seats by the woman who just took it for a test drive. it belongs to a young couple, a techbro and a female lawyer. they're really into bdsm

It was completely out of stock when I heard about it. I sent him an email like 3 months before he released that version and just never got a response, so I just went with that.

Blech, thankfully that’s not a super common note

I hope you like burning barbershop as much as I do.

That’s a shame Anon, I just put on some Bohemian Lime before bead and it’s so pleasant.

Is grape a note, or an accord made from multiple ingredients? (Like how leather is often listed as a “note” but is actually made through multiple notes)
Mousse Illuminee and Azzaro Most Wanted are the only two things I know of with a grape scent (both in the heart notes) and I love it, but neither have it listed as a note.

Idk about you but I tend to use note and accord pretty interchangeably. Maybe I’m retarded

I love my Fragrance. I also get compliments for it. I can recommend to not look to much on the price tag. 120€/$ can be worth it if its suits you. I personally can smell the difference. If you know the smell of teenage girls you know the smell of cheap Fragrance. Its disgusting.

Mam in Black is a good fragrance, but it costs a lot less than 120$ at discounters, doesn't it? There's no reason to buy perfumes for retail

Great fragrance, worst atomizer I've ever used. Actually like spraying a water-pistol
