/btg/ BOOT GENERAL - BLACK AND BLUE EDITION

What do I need to care for my boots?
>Old cotton t shirt (one for cleaning, another for applying conditioners)
>Horsehair brush ($10-15)
>Wooden shoe trees ($10-15)
>Light conditioner like Lexol/Bck4/renovateur
>Heavy conditioner (if you live in terrible snow/rain areas) Sno seal/Obernauf LP
>Don't forget that boots need time to dry properly, rotate them an

How do I deal with x stain?
>mud: allow it to dry then brush off
>salt: water and cloth as soon as possible
>saturated wet: allow the boot to dry for a full day, stuff with newspaper
>scuffs and scratches: buff vigorously with horsehair brush

>Should I buy turdsdays/soloshits/doc shitans?
No they are filled with synthetic materials aimed at instant comfort but will not hold up to actual use.
>b-b-but muh ecelebs on youtube said they're good
no. you will waste your time and money and still have uncomfortable footwear at the end of the day. spend the extra $100 and get something real.

heels were clean, just brushed them off a bit just in case
heated just a bit of pure beeswax (picrel) on the stove to melt, had a stiff bristle mustache brush I don't use anymore to apply to heel
it will cool down and harden, then used a hairdryer (not a heat gun) to heat it back and brush into the leather so it absorbs
then brushed out the completed heel/midsole and they had a nice lil sheen
i'd recommend just beeswax over leather preservative or conditioner, definitely don't use oil, don't want to condition or soften that leather

It's soft, I think the pattern makes it more flexible.
It doesn't seem to crease much.
No idea about scratches.

that's why you buy from brands you know and trust, so you don't have to worry about this stuff

if you buy from quality makers you never have to worry if you're being scammed with sub-par construction and cheap mystery meat leather.

I'm honestly surprised some makers like TLB can offer top quality dress shoes for less than 500€.
