What do I need to care for my boots?
>Old cotton t shirt (one for cleaning, another for applying conditioners)
>Horsehair brush ($10-15)
>Wooden shoe trees ($10-15)
>Light conditioner like Lexol/Bck4/renovateur
>Heavy conditioner (if you live in terrible snow/rain areas) Sno seal/Obernauf LP
>Don't forget that boots need time to dry properly, rotate them an

How do I deal with x stain?
>mud: allow it to dry then brush off
>salt: water and cloth as soon as possible
>saturated wet: allow the boot to dry for a full day, stuff with newspaper
>scuffs and scratches: buff vigorously with horsehair brush

>Should I buy turdsdays/soloshits/doc shitans?
No they are filled with synthetic materials aimed at instant comfort but will not hold up to actual use.
>b-b-but muh ecelebs on youtube said they're good
no. you will waste your time and money and still have uncomfortable footwear at the end of the day. spend the extra $100 and get something real.

Being a dress style boot they are going to be made out of pretty thin leather and won't really be durable or rugged, plus they will be stupid expensive for what you get. I'd personally recommend not getting dress boots unless, like I said, you will wear them regularly to events or something.

idk, maybe im in a bad mood today...but i got my parkhurst boots a few days ago and i gotta say im underwhelmed. theyre just 'ok'. i dont think theyre anywhere nearly as nice as my grant stones. theres a few places where the stitching is sloppy and theres some kind of weird glue or residue on the inside of the shoe. it doesnt affect the wear but idk, it just feels like shoddy craftsmanship. Also, i think the last just doesnt fit me right. again , not really their fault. My toes are almost to the end of the boot but yet somehow i have heel slippage even tho im tieing them as tight as possible. I dont have a narrow foot or anything, so I dont get it. all in all, it was a waste of 400 dollars i think. i'll be going to bed sad tonight.

it's made the same way wedge sole boots are constructed
a rubber slip sole is stitched to the midsole and the outsole is just glued to that rubber
theoretically this should be durable, because a rubber-rubber bond is strong, in reality i don't think this will last
this method works for wedge soles, because they are quite thick, therefore more resistant to bending at the edges and don't have a lot of traction that would generate sheer forces
with thin outsoles, that can easily bend and "peel" at the edges, delamination happens very often
this is why commando half soles suck and unglue by far the fastest, because they are really flexible and have a lot of traction

here's what happens with thin, glued outsoles after 2 months, viberg lmao

Even though I sold my Vibergs because the 2030 last didn't fit me well, I still think they look great

I might give the 1035 last a try once, but I'm not sure it's gonna be different enough compared to 2030

I'm generally keeping an eye out on Rivet & Hide for a cool makeup on 1035. Any other stores in Europe that stock Vibergs?

lol
They have generally great fitting lasts, but not the variety C&J have. You go to Alden for an Indy or the extensive sizes/widths they offer, if you need it. Otherwise they are inferior in every way, in something like QC especially they are miles apart.

I posted these in the cowboymaxxing thread but I figure I’ll ask here as well. I inherited these boots from an extremely cowboy uncle and I have no idea what type of heel this is or what they’re for. He had plenty of normal heeled cowboy boots and packer boots but these are the only ones with this weird slant heel so it’s not like an orthopedic thing. Anyone know what they are?

Kind of in the same boat as you with my Parkhursts I just received. Bought a pair of Smooth Brown Allens and one of the boots had visible glue coming out from under the veg tan heel insole. The other had some sort of tool marks on the upper which I doubt happened during shipping, so either the guy running it didn't check my pair for QC or he did and didn't care. Same with heel slippage. The only reason I bought these was to support another western NY boot guy and I kind of regret it.

I would agree with that. They're definitely leaning into GS territory and I was looking at GS before deciding to give Parkhurst a shot for regional regions. Next pair will probably be a pair of GS brass boots just due to sizing/last issues on Parkhurst.

it is a funky last. its in the same category of the 2030 being very attractive but kinda shit to wear

personally i think the arch length is so short you need to go tts regardless of width, the e width ball doesnt actually save your toes from squish again requiring tts and the 602 bulge seems to be common, heel is very comfy because it s a c width i think but overall i think the gs leo is a better all day last and with all the width options you can easily nail down a good fit

highly recommend the brass though. the floyd last is amazing if sized correctly

PNW boots sound like what you need. Go with Truman if you don't want to wait an eternity for boots. If you're down for a long wait, White's, Nigs, Frank's, Wesco, Drew's, and JK all make great shit kickers. If you like Engineers, Wesco is the way to go. If you want a good all around boot, White's Farmer/Rancher is good. The rest all do solid 6-8 inch lace ups but imo the models are pretty interchangeable.

Alternatively if you're in the American south, grab some cowboy boots. Anderson Bean, Rios of Mercedes, Olathe, and Fengolio all make tough boots that can stand up to abuse but also look good in a bar
