Does oak smell like kitchen spices to anyone else? All samples I tried that have this note (Memoirs of Tresspasser, Costa Azzurra Parfum, Sacred Memories) remind me of Maggi which is widely used in Europe. Kinda similar to fennel in Legacy of Petra.

honestly i dont' have a preferred house for anything. Parfums vintage does a pretty good job of PV and also a few others I've personally smelled (oud wood). I have a copy of green irish tweed called Rasasi Erga or something that smells as good as GIT to me. I've used some other clone of Bleu De Chanel EDT once that I think smells okay.

I'm gonna order a few samples from the perfumed court when I order a sample of Eau des Baux. Suggest me something. Anything. I was thinking I wanted to maybe try out a few frags from Zoologist or Amouge but honestly just suggest me something you like.

Layton and Herod are both 8s, however I would say Herod smells very mature, I have trouble seeing myself wearing it at 23
