Also, I've been doing soft-lunarcore for a couple of years now, legit lunarcore is too expensive, too cosplay-like and too difficult to obtain, I just do "worker, but in space" type of stuff, will post my inspo folder.

And to clarify "soft-lunarcore": I wear high-top canvas sneakers, cargo pants (5" or so shorts in the summer), tank-tops, henleys, oxford shirts, bomber jackets (with patches I bought), sweaters/hoodies/jumpers only if they have an interesting texture; everything is in sci-fi-ish colors (so I don't look like I'm pretending to be in the army).

It's not black, doesn't rely solely on synthetic materials and there are no random straps everywhere, but I do agree, Alien's aesthetics were the best.

I remember when LunarCore was gaining traction here back in 2017. Fun times.
I'm not sure exactly why it died the first time, but I remember saving some stuff from those threads. I remember there was also a black anon with one leg who managed to pull off a pretty cool fit.

I think a one issue with Lunar core is that most people attempting it weren't really going far enough with it. Most ideas about Lunar core were just copying fits from alien. Something like OP's image would've been considered too modern. It's also a style that limits itself to colder climates so in the summer it became unviable.
It's still a neat idea though, and I think a return to lunarcore could lay the groundwork for something more interesting. I saw a trailer for a game called Marathon a few months ago that reminded me of it.

Hey y'all! Thanks for the replies I was actually giving up on this thread and ignored it.

I've been playing around with:

top: an old silver bomber style jacket I got from hong kong in 2005 (my goal is to find a nice white utility-style/oversized jacket)

middle: white dry-fit pullover hoodie, and as an alternative, a tan wool-knit sweater (I'm in canada it's cold)

I have a white reflective neck warmer from under armor with no logo when I wear the hoodie. this amps up the lunar vibe.

under: simple longish white T from uniqlo

pants: I have pants from projek raw (thank god with no side pockets) in a 'mushroom' color, which look really nice.

Socks: I need to figure out the sock/pant/boot tuck without looking like a lot of the dorks in >>17961373


shoes: here's where I'm kinda figuring myself out.

at first I had a pair of black side-zip work boots that I've worn with a lot of streetwear fits.

black boots don't go with this look.

I have some old moon boot 950s that I have in a storage box somewhere but I can't fucking find them!

so in the meantime I'm wearing the nike blazers. they're not fresh clean, which works to my advantage, if I kept them clean like some nerd it wouldn't make the fit.

I want to move away from the swoosh because we won't have a nike store on the moonpost in 2050.

I have been tempted to wear otomix wrestling shoes, but I'm afraid that's border cringe with some of my social circles. check out the white stingrays, they're mid-cuts like the blazers.

people rave about Geobaskets, but honestly they're a bit too odd looking for me. I might grab the Y-3 GSG9 which is a kinda nice white spin of the adidas GSG9 tactical. I'd cut off the sachiko stitches though I don't like those things hanging.

Jokes aside some of the pieces curiously bled into mainstream fashion or came and went as a trend. Bombers, especially ones with space themed patches, died out. Cargo pants are still the dominating pants and pretty mainstream. quilted liners were also trend for a minutes. Also flight suits were too tryhard imo for anyone to try outside of some Norwegian stem grad.

If anything lunar core in now would be a fictionalized take on gorp. Silhouette straying away from the tapered to baggy with some distressed or well worn look like the trending "object-dyed" adjective. something like Hamcus's lookbook. Also fits with the whole work wear theme that's becoming/became the norm.

Yes, also limits the way people will view it.
Lunarcore is a much broader name that I think opens it up to experimentation and reinterpretation(though I think that name's kinda larpy too)
At some point I think the name will probably change as the style evolves. Personally I think spacewear makes a bit more sense since it hints at the derivation from techwear.

Yeah I agree, another issue with LC on /fa/ back then is a lot of posters were probably high schoolers or just didn't have the funds to really go all in on the techwear aspect, so you had a lot of really casual modern looking outfits like >>17964783
