Bought a little sample of NYI. It’s not near as challenging as you guys made it out to be. Not an old man scent like Viking. Nowhere near as grandma as Blue Electrique, either. Kinda has a vibe that reminds me of the original One Million, actually. Daily driver for sure.

What are frags opinion on Orto Parisi? Preferably NOT the memes Seminalis and Stercus.
Currently trying out Terroni and Viride. They both seem alright, Viride is a lot more earthy than I was expecting, but not in a bad way. Like rich soil and herbs.
Terroni is also a little earthy, but in a black licorice, sweet and spicy kind of way.

couple reviews of previous samples i've been wearing the last couple days

>essential parfums nice bergamote
refreshing at first spray, and true to the name, very bergamot-forward, but i find the longevity lacking and while the opening is nice, it dries down very uninspired
>di ser kazehikaru
really unique - starts off with a medicial, menthol-esque vibe (from the shiso?) and the fresh astringent quality of yuzu. apparently there's rose in here, but it's the thorny stem if anything for me - dries down to a cool vegetal vibe, it's a really unique green. not sure if i'd grab a full bottle, but as the first frag i've tried from the house, i really enjoy it

On Parfumo, where you can rate the bottle and fragrance separately, the bottle performs poorly while the fragrance itself is well-liked, and they are correct about that. It no longer is. It's okay at best, you get an Invictus-like fragrance at better performance - allegedly. That was before it was hyped on every social media outlet, which made the price more than double, combined with plenty of reformulation rumors that supposedly killed the performance. So be aware of that, you might not get what you expect considering the current price. If you don't know Invictus, it's just bubblegum for teenage boys. Hawas is that as well. If someone has zero fragrances and zero fragrance knowledge, Hawas at original price would have been a good buy. I probably would've worn that one 10 years ago.

>Best unisex rose fragrance ever made?
Pretty sure that one is still held by Tea Rose.
>inb4 but Tea Rose is marketed as for women and Red Rose is marketed as unisex

>>17957560
To be fair, I've smelled it a lot in the wild. Not as often as Khamrah, but certainly often. Then again it might have been any of the 400 clones of it that already exist. I can understand the hate - if so many people wear it, it just makes you question if these people have no opinion of their own. I'm sure they have worn a different fragrance before, I'm sure they will wear a different fragrance in the future, but instead of searching what interests them the most, they just settle on the current hype. To me, it feels like the fragrance loses its "personality" and the people wearing it do as well. It's hard to describe, but whenever I smell it, I just think "another one from the sheep herd", and I guess some people do that as well and project that thought onto the fragrance itself.

>>17957580
It's inherent to all "in"-groups. If you are "in" it, you hate on the popular thing.

Most disappointing thing I have smelled recently. Not a fan of the regular L'Eau d'Issey PH, it's just a bitter yuzu smell that I don't care about, so when I read about this one, I always thought they had made it more interesting somehow. Finally saw a bottle at a store and tested it. It's basically the same thing, with a miniscule amount of incense. All those accords can basically be removed, just 90% citrus and 10% smoky or balsamic. Thanks for reading my blog.

Oldfag here dropping in.
I am glad to hear some recommendations.

so far my use history was
212 nyc by carolina herrera, santal by cdg, Incense Kyoto by cdg around 10 years ago. 5 years ago Sycamore by Chanel. Currently and ran out of Another 13 by Le labo. I would go for another Another 13 but open to try something new.

Random ramblings to contribute that you guys already probably know:
my ex used tacit by aseop and it smells ok
The Gaiac 10 le labo smells ok but i dont think it's that great.
Got a bunch of free samples of Aventus creed of course smells as you know citrus and attention grabbing (i am not really fond). Santal 33 smells good but the thing is everyone smells like santal 33 if you go anywhere remotely popular.
tom for wood oud is very strong, dark, spicy. Def not a fan but it is pleasant to smell.

You should obviously be looking into either chypres, or possibly classic fougeres. Eau Sauvage was already mentioned (but also check out the Parfum version), Chypre-Siam if you want to go back in time but with something new, Etruscan Water for something softer, Chypre Palatin if you want to go balls to the wall in morning dress. Current slop mix by L'Oreal. Everything released by them recently has been a mix of the same 10-15 chemicals or something like that. The formula works, that's why they have been doing it, but personally, I just think most of them are rather mid. At first I was excited for new releases, now I know what they have been doing, and it sucks. The "reminds me of" section on fragrantica is all you need to know. Libre, Luna Rossa Ocean, Ralph's Club, Y, Born in Roma, all of them L'Oreal, all of them made from 2019 onwards.

It was made by Christophe Raynaud, and I would like to appeal to the perfumers making these slop mixtures to just fucking STOP. I understand that they need to make money, but attaching your name to these slop mixes really doesn't build a legacy. Forgettable fragrances attached to forgettable names. Then again Christophe Raynaud works for Givaudan and they need to sell those chemicals they are producing, so I technically can't blame him personally (even though I do).

Did you mean migraines? In actual studies, strong fragrances were only able to trigger migraines, but never headaches (in headache-prone people, even). Most of the headaches people get "from fragrances" are auto-suggestion. It happens mostly to weak-minded people. Stuff they don't like "gives them a headache" although in reality it doesn't, they just read on the internet it gives people headaches, or a bad smelling fragrance they bought does, as a reaction to the mental stress of having wasted money on something that stinks. As for fragrances themselves, they haven't been able to cause headaches when observed under controlled and reproducible conditions.

Thanks for the details anon. He was showing me a listing for 30 bucks on the tiktok shop feature, which if true might be worth it even with the drop in performance.
That said, I think he likes more "deep blue" scents like Boss and Burberry Brit for men vs sweet bubblegum type scents. Might try to recommend him something closer to that.

The original is my most complimented fragrance. It doesn’t matter how much I have spent on diff brands. Girls all like this. I’d go to a store & test it. Cheap & available

Pour homme black I do not like.
Parfum and Edp are both nice.
The new elixir is good and I will buy one. Elixir takes the white floral of pour homme and amplifies it

Pour homme opens white/light floral, light citrus, light spice, sweet. Dry down is vanilla, lavender, light patchouli. It is a basic sweet inoffensive fragrance. 6-8 hours basic projection but better than pour homme black.

Notes are citrus, lavender, woody, white floral, aromatic, sweet, patchouli, fresh spicy, vanilla.

Tonnerre is definitely smoky, but not ‘fireplace’ at all. It actually has a -very- brief but prominent top note that’s aquatic.

As >>17959615 said, you can also try A City On Fire, or Firewater if you’re open to niche like Tonnerre. I don’t think either of them struck me as “fireplace” though.

I haven’t smelled much by DS&D, wasn’t aware (some) people consider them a meme house, but I fucking -love- Burning Barbershop.

That said, part of the reason I love it is because of the strong spearmint note that carries through almost the entire length of the frag. I would think that would ruin it for someone looking for a “fireplace” frag such as >>17959522 . Also worth mentioning is the fact that (at least according to the note list) it’s a “burnt oil” scent, not a traditional smoke smell. I’m certain I personally wouldn’t be able to connect the scent to the note, but I can definitely distinguish it as a non-traditional “smoky” smell.

just get Eau des Baux. it's even a bit more interesting because of the cypress

The scent seems like it has high quality ingredients and smells
like a much higher quality aqua di gio but that water style fragrance gives me a headache no matter the brand. Try to get a sample but if you can't and you like aqua di gio then it might be up your alley

Autosuggestion. Please refer to >>17958074. Fortify your mind against such influences and the headaches will disappear.

Too sweet and cloying. Unironically get a dupe of it, they tend to be less headache inducing somehow in my experience
Red Tobacco is the only decant I've ever regretted buying

Carry around an essential oil blend roller with the citruses you like
You really can't do anything about citruses other than go oil based, though lotions do help

Smells like supermarket brand shower gel to me
>>17959925
Yeah, it's fine but it's just a clone of an overhyped frag to begin with. I slightly preferred explorer too.

Any other suggestions?

It's an overpriced ""luxury"" clone of Eau des Baux, so get Eau des Baux.

Yeah ive gotten some compliments for the scent but the sillage i think the term is called isnt very good unless i take a puerto rican shower.

Actually i do have a little cardboard box it came with that i think are samples. Surprisingly I like Juniper Sling but its more of a summer thing, if it was stronger maybe id be into it more but i need something for the colder half of the year.

I did some research, would you recommend Elixir or Halfeti leather more? Sohan sounded interesting too
