Patrick Bateman: Do you like Rolex?
Paul Allen: They're OK.
Patrick Bateman: Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when the datejust came out in '45, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole watch has a clear, crisp look, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the watch a big boost.

>Rolex
The best brand. Vintage, neo vintage or modern. You can't go wrong with a Rolex. Only hated by contrarians. The fact they're kind of hard to get make them even more desirable. Super based.
>Tudor
They're fine until you hit 35. After that, just get a Rolex or women will make fun of you.
>Casio
They're good for outdoor stuff. Never wear one in the city.
>Omega
Strong douchebag vibes, especially the Seamaster 300M and the Aqua Terra. The Speedmaster is alright though.
>IWC

>Breitling
Fun watches but if your IQ is above average you shouldn't get one.
>Tag Heuer
Same as Breitling but for slightly more retarded people.
>Jaeger Lecoultre
They're trying so hard to make affordable high horology, which is embarrassing. The Reverso is borderline Reddit. Lenny Kravitz is the brand ambassador, huge red flag.
>Vacheron Constantin
People like the brand because the name sounds cool and the logo is nice, but they haven't made a single good watch in 300 years of existence.
>Cartier
Only worth it if you go gold and mechanical (ie above 15 or even 20k). DO NOT get a quartz Cartier. The Santos is VERY Reddit.
>Audemars Piguet
If you've already heard their CEO talking and you still want one, you're either a nigger or a boomer desperate to stay young.
>Patek Philippe
Thousands of disgusting watches but maybe 10 HIGHLY DESIRABLE watches that somehow make the brand still relevant today. The 3940 is possibly the best watch ever made.

Hello anons, could you please help me choose my watch, I've been thinking this for a while since I only want to get one and make it my daily watch for all the eternity. Here are some pros and cons I consider

>casio
it's casio, reliable and compact, quartz, known respected brand, currently out of production.
Kinda plain and boring, 44mm, mineral glass, aluminum bezel

>Pagani Design
Rip off, quartz, ????? brand, QC is crap, made by slaves.
Sapphire glass, ceramic bezel, seiko movement, cool chronograph feature, nice busy dial

>Vostok Amphibia
Compact watch, automatic, shipped from russia in the middle of a war, brand with history, inhouse movement, appears in a movie
shitty glass, accuracy problems, QC is kinda crappy, rusty crown, ugly bezel

Well out of those three i'd go for the Pagani. The Casio is probably too big and the Vostok is too utilitarian.
I would suggest the Casio Lineage LCW M170TD as a one and done watch, you can get it for ~200, it looks nice, it'll serve you a long time, and it has all the features you could possibly ever need.

I want a slim dress watch I dont have to wind and set every two days. I love the GS finishing. Shipping the watch to japan for service seems annoying, however I can tolerate it if its only every 10 years and cheap since its a quartz.

Quartz is supposed to be cheap and disposable. A GS is supposed to last a lifetime. Seems like a contradiction. Also, GS doesn't make any good dress watches. They're all too chunky. They're dressy by the standard of people who think wearing Air Jordans with a suit is a good look.

It would certainly be a risky maneuver, but maybe there's a way to sell dress watches to a younger but still affluent crowd. Young people still like Cartier Tanks, after all, and that's basically the gold standard of a dress watch.

Somehow make a cool case shape that isn't 42mm x 15mm, give it a dial that's classy but not stodgy.

I don't know how but I think it could be done.

I think the next step is a laser cutter. The paper cutting machine I have lifts the edges on fine details because of the cutting blade's force, which makes things like the tips of hair crumpled. This may also affect reliability since the cardstock front and back may separate easier since the fibers have been disturbed and pulled apart. That could lead to the hour hand getting stuck if heat, moisture, or impacts dislodge a fine detail part. But with a laser cutter there's risk of having charred edges which may look worse. Try to filter them by size first. If you are a wristlet, that should really narrow down tour search.
Also, for Vostok, consider the following:
Acrylic crystal isn't so bad, and, in my opinion, it's a better option compared to mineral glass. It has a nice matte hue that's very hard to imitate. Scratches will ruin the fun though. Usual wear-and-tear scratches are easy to remove with polywatch, but deeper scratches can be permanent.
Accuracy can be adjusted within seiko-tier parameters, but QC really is a problem.
For a bezel, there are dozens of alternatives (vostok has a huge aftermarket scene), they are rather easy to swap and doing mods is general one of the fun things about owning a Vostok. And it's not always mentioned, but Vostoks have friction fit bezels. That means that you won't get nice one-directional clicks like with Casio or other modern divers.

Not that anon, but as he said: the original is quartz so its totally bonkers to get the automatic. Moreover, the Powermatic 80 movement is half plastic anyway which means that its cheaper to buy a new one than to get it serviced - a problem you likely won't have with the reliability of the quartz. Last, the sunburst colours on the quarts models look much better in real life because the indices on the waffle pattern look very cheap and, in the wrong light, are illegible. Not to say the quartz is without its faults, but for 400eu its a bargain. If all else fails, just but the citizen tsuyosa - it's a third of the price less and normies cannot tell the difference to begin with.

/fa/ I need your help. I'm looking for a watch brand/subbrand/line that had a name that was Greek or Roman inspired. I saw it in a tiktok video and am pretty sure it was made by one of the big Japanese manufacturers.

it looks nice from pictures but it is massive. extremely thick and makes it looked oversized. just like GS but i guess that's why it's called the "baby GS"
