i enjoy it, it's not oud-heavy at all as the note composition might suggest. i initially bought it since i enjoyed roja's amber aoud which comes very close, though emiro has a certain spiciness under it and slightly less longetivity. i'm a big consumer of roses, it's a favourite of mine in the genre after malle's poal and tobacco rose, my favourite one currently being nawab of oudh by ormonde jayne

A random woman on the street (way past my age) gave me an unsolicited compliment after I applied 40 sprays of Axe Dark Temptation EdT, an old drugstore bottle I still had around and wanted to empty out. >YSL Y for men
Funny story about the YSL. I went to my local department store and was trying all different colognes that I read about online and a gay guy asked what I ones I was looking for and when I said Eros he called it "basic" and recommended the YSL lol.
Anyways, what websites, channels, etc do you guys use to find good fragrances and lists and that would be good for a fragrance newfag?
I've just been googling best colognes for men for whatever season it currently is to find stuff.
Thanks!

Probably had a lot of olfactory fatigue along the way but here we go
A lot of them really had that similar synthetic/mass appealing scent that I'm not fond of

>SWY Intensely
Hated it, couldn't stand the cinnamon
>L'eau d'Issey
Whatever, very fresh and nice but there's much better out there
>The One
I liked it at first but it became quite boring. It has that luxuous hotel vibe to it and it's better than a lot of others though so it's decent. EDP is better
>Y
EDP is decent I guess
>LNDLH
Pretty good, smells very versatile, nothing as crazy as I imagined though
>Dior
I hated all of their perfumes. There's something about the Dior DNA I just can't stand. Homme Intense I hated the most I think, the lipstick scent is way too weird and feminine. Any Sauvage version smelt generic and synthetic as fuck
>Givenchy Gentleman
Whatever. Reserve Privé smells pretty decent, the others are okay
>BDC
Probably had olfactory fatigue at this point, so I'd have to smell it again, but I was very very underwhelmed. It's almost like it had no identity
>Most Wanted
Decent, nothing crazy either
>Chanel Allure
I have Edition Blanche and Allure smells pretty good and different, maybe a bit more on the mature side
>Egoiste
Really great. At first it smelt disgusting but I found myself liking it. Rich scent, not for everyone
>Platinum Egoiste
Fresher and more appealing, very good as well

Both ELDO and Orto Seminalis claim to be shooting (kek) for that scent, but they’re both BS. I’ve never heard that claim about Megamare, just that’s it’s a nuclear frag with a love or hate it smell.

Secretions is basically just a social experiment by ELDO to see if they can get people to buy a (purposely) horrid scent.
Megamare is a spicy “aquatic” frag that apparently is just a very polarizing smell. (I think it smells great)
Seminalis is just a meme scent, creamy to make people think cum. Look up Stercus by the same guy if you have any doubt.

I just went back and sniffed my bottle… and I suppose I can see where you’re coming from. In my personal opinion I would have a hard time calling it “sweet” but that doesn’t mean you can’t.

Imo, sweet is things like (at least what I’ve heard) JPG Scandal, and other super sticky sweet frags that drip sugar. Calling Tonnerre sweet is like calling a jalapeño pepper spicy after eating a Carolina Reaper. It’s not wrong… but perspective may disagree.
It’s also just so overwhelmed with smoke the sweetness isn’t very forward to me, or is just very drowned out and mixed in with smoke it’s not particularly recognizable.

Regardless you still have good taste.

Gourmand Vetiver is definitely a unique combination but it works well imo.
>The Soft Lawn (original)
Interesting in how people interpret it. I believe it’s the linden blossom note that smells similar to dill, and so some people associate the frag with pickles.
>H24
Metallic bananas, need I say more.
>Ghost in the Shell
I find this interesting as a concept between the coupling of synthetic and natural notes to achieve an exquisite frag.

Those are what immediately come to mind. You may disagree on whether or not they’re interesting.

Bought a bunch of new decants and first impressions so far (my sense might not be there 100% as ive just today recovered from a cold):

>JPG Le Male Parfum
this just smells really simple. nice and loud enough but disappointingly one note.
>Montblanc Explorer
kinda fruity and fresh, nice enough but did not leave much of an impression
>TDH
expected something more difficult, but this is actually a really enjoyable scent. i can only smell the citruses and some tea smell at this point though
>Bois Imperial
expected a meme frag due to amount of shitposting about it, but this is so accessible and dare i say mass appealing. just a very enjoyable woody fresh scent i kinda love it
>Mancera Red Tobacco
this is so fucking loud. scentwise ck shock is 50 times better than this. how does this get shilled so much
>Prada Luna Rossa Carbon
enjoy it better than the other blue frags I've tried (missoni's pour homme and dylan blue) on account of its mildness. its not loud and sharp and synthetic smelling like pour homme and does not have drydown smelling like sweat like dylan blue.
>Prada Luna Rossa Black
definitely a cool fall/winter frag. sweet but also has bitter character, and the result is just cool as fuck.
>Guerlain L'homme Ideal
Only have sprayed this one in the air, but just from that it does seem pretty impressive.

15 decants so far and have yet to buy a bottle of something but among first buys ill be looking to get both pradas listed here, BI, Missoni Wave and maybe Montblanc Legend Spirit and TDH.

If you're rich get Vibrato because it has the richest ginger citrus mix with the longest longevity (which is still only around 6 hrs). It's a beautiful crisp ginger citrus, but it's not worth the money. Arrakis is slightly different in that it has a sandy-dry element to it, but I personally don't think it meshes will with the ginger-citrus vibe.
