Minding my own business and suddenly my friends are all talking about fragrances and it went from designer frag to PDM and they won't shut up about it. One of them even bought a bunch like Layton Galloway Charlies(?) kalan etc. am I being punked or are those actually good shit? It's so niche you can only buy it from 1 guy in my country. Was thinking about checking them out at duty free when I travel next but I still feel like my roots lies in designer frag

I regret buying it because I have 50-100 100ml bottles and so it rarely gets worn, but if you're going to have 4-5 fragrances you'll easily go through a bottle.

calming, powdery, formal take on the barbershop fragrance. expect lots of lavender and sandalwood, a bit of citrus to freshen it up, some sharp aromatics and a powdery, creamy sandalwood-vanilla-iris drydown that smells quite comfy
I would say it's less dated than most scents in this category, maybe because it only came out in the 90s. but still old school and still a "white shirt" type of scent

Go to the Dior store in the inner city (inside the Galeria Kaufhof), test some stuff, hit yourself with 4-5 sprays of your favorite and tell the saleswoman you'll come back if the performance matches the price (and then never come back).
Also be mindful that it's in Düsseldorf, which has one of the largest Japanese communities in Europe, so expect a lot of Japanese people, who are very much not interested in smelling you in any way, shape or form. Fragrances aren't really a thing in Japan, it's considered rude to "annoy" others with your scent.
Direct suggestion? L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme. Light enough to not actually annoy others, a certain popularity and recognizability, not gaudy or obnoxious.
After leaving the concert, if you're turning north towards the train station, do NOT go past it. Take whatever train you have to catch there, don't think about taking the light stroll all the way to the main train station. Wrong area for someone going to an Ado concert unless you know what you're doing.

Chanel frags aren't known for being "nuclear" (enormous projection and sillage).

Sauvage Parfum is the superior scent, it has more musk in the drydown, which makes it addicting and creamy. The edt are screechy citruses.

The rosemary note and the tad of sweetness added to Beau de Jour teleport it into the current era. Zino doesn't have that. I agree that Zino is very similar, but there are still very distinct differences which put these two fragrances decades apart, just like they are.

Nope, for me it's the discontinued Lorenzo Villoresi Vetiver. It has the little spice of Guerlain Vetiver, but goes heavy in the earthy heavy rooty aspect of vetiver.
It's a child between a natural smelling Encre Noir and Guerlain Vetiver.

I’ve heard good things about Pineward (the house) and Targhee Forest, I don’t know that it qualifies as wood or forest but Mousse Illuminee is also fantastic by Rogue (most of his stuff is).

There’s also the anon that always shouts about how Bois Imperial is “a photo realistic plank of wood” which I’m not sure I totally agree with, but it’s def good.

Recent Drakkar Noir formulation is quite shit. In the drydown it lacks some depth or refinement. Smells somewhat screechy.
Any alternatives besides Bon Monsieur? How close is Eau de Minth and how is the longevity?

Question for the thread.

I bought a couple travel atomizers from DecantX and they come with a little cone to spray into the decant vial, but they also come with a little… turkey baster suction thing for if you can open the bottle and get to the juice directly.

Can you actually do that with most full bottle atomizers? Can you take the spray head/straw off a bottle? I don’t want to risk breaking any of my collection but just spraying 50~ times into a little decant vial seems… inefficient.

I'm so uninterested in the new releases of the past few years. It seems like the only things that aren't shower gel are boring overpriced shite by Tom Ford.

Spray heads are crimped on, but the crimp is usually hidden by some kind of plastic. If you manage to open the crimp, you can suck the fragrance out of the bottle directly. Also, the suction thingies might be used for e.g. aftershaves in splash bottles (or fragrances in splash bottles), to move them into an atomizer.
If you want to practice opening a crimp, get a bottle of Adidas Active Bodies (pic related). The crimp is exposed, they didn't put plastic over it. You probably need some kind of metal hook (dentist tool or something) to get the crimp open, or you can just fuck around till you manage it. Good luck.

Went out with my young cousin last night. Just as we're about to leave pre drinks, he whips Explorer out and passes it around like deoderant.

Everyone sprays themselves 4-6 times. We get to the "club" of this very small country town and all the dudes smell the same, they even remark on it like a funny but not unexpected coincidence.

No-one has any idea what Aventus is, or that Explorer is regarded as a clone of it, they all just heard "it gets mad pussy" etc.

I'd wanted to sample Explorer some time because my collection is so austere and classic, an Aventus clone for a cheap fruity/freshy seemed like a good cop. It wasn't what I thought it'd be at all. To be honest, it just smells like generic dour Dudebro body spray. I vaguely remember smelling CDNIM a while ago and remember it being extremely bright and fresh. Explorer didn't smell like something related to that to me.

It *was* extremely potent though. There are so many reviews claiming Explorer is fairly weak, doesn't last, that you need to reapply. It's fucking nuclear lol. All these indian/arab SILLAGE NEEDFUL SIRS have gone noseblind to the ambroxan and smell-bomb everywhere they go

Explorer and Club de Nuit Intense smell similar, with Club de Nuit being more potent. I disagree with Explorer being potent tho. I think its weaker than say The Scent, Eternity, or Sauvage. Maybe its just my skin but to me, Explorer has quite small sillage even with 5 sprays. I would not wear Explorer to the club as it would be utterly pointless because it would be totally overpowered by other frags. Explorer works best as a casual frag.

I agree that it might come off as generic dudebro body spray, because after all, pine is a common fragrance in male hygiene products.

Look into Terre d’Hermes Eau de Toilette, it’s a little bit harder to get your hands on if you’re in the US, but apparently it’s extremely common in Europe.
It’s a great, masculine, adult scent that isn’t too strong and very office friendly.
It’s going to be a lot different than your Cremo, will open with citrus and get more earthy as it develops, but I think you’ll like it.

Also, while Bois Imperial is a fantastic frag, ignore >>17948314 because BI is gonna be waaaaay too loud for your job. I mean, you will smell amazing, but EVERYONE you work with will smell it.

if you want a bit more strength, get Grey Vetiver or Terre d'Hermes. both good, serious woody work scents
